When you use it at home, does it's built in wi-fi reach from the dish or is it a separate piece that you set inside?

I believe they ship you only a modem and you have to buy the wi-fi 'routers' separately. At least that's how my Dad got his setup. He ordered a router for each room so he could ensure total coverage.

Since I bought my Starlink RV in February 23 the coverage has increased so much I can now use it at home. Some pictures show how many trees I have. Where the dish is located I can't see the north star and that's 40°.PXL_20250428_130601100.jpg PXL_20250428_122134011.jpg

It has a long cord that goes to the satellite dish and you can put the modem inside.

Thanks, and you do realize that me looking into blowing money on one of these is entirely your fault.

I was looking to ditch cable for our internet last year. Tried the T-Mobile 5G home internet for a few weeks and found that even with a good strength 5G signal the speeds were too slow for our household usage. I was considering Starlink and if we had an RV or vacation home I'd have gone that route. Turns out the cable company just offered fiber in our neighborhood and it's much cheaper (for now at least) and faster than cable was so I went that route. If they jack the price way up it's nice to know Starlink is an option.

Speeds with the fiber set up:

We have a middle of the road plan as far as speed. It's like $40/mo right now.

Watch for throttling clauses. Many providers start slowing speeds if you do too much streaming. That's why I got the Starlink.

3 pieces - Dish, power supply, router. The dish is connected to the router via a 40' (I think) cord and then sends out a good signal. I didnt have issues in my condo or my house. I bought the 100" cord to use at the house and will be selling it off here soon as I do not need all that cord in the camper or for home back up, which is what I use it for now. Anything over 100' on the cable recommends an in line booster. That said, I had zero issues with service when I had clear skies.

I think that is the part I bought by mistake over a year ago lol... I need to find that and throw it up on that auction site. Unless anyone here needs one too... Beautiful setup!

I did find a way around this throttling. Use an old, decommissioned cell phone and set it up to see your wifi and turn on wifi sharing. The ISP sees the cell phone but doesn't see the TV streaming Netflix and doesn't throttle the speeds.
