So I've been looking for a second Tundra (long story buy I have 3 sons and will be handing them down over time)

Came across the Holy Grail Unicorn configured truck.
2024 Limited with TRD package in Lunar Rock, 6K miles
    3" Factory lift
Tundra Pro grill, fenders, fog light bezel
Limited Package with LED lighting, sun roof, etc
Basically every option box ticked when they ordered it.

But for the love of God the dealer did some touch up paint near the gas door. Granted the faux carbon decal will be the first thing to go, but what do I do about this. I would be buying from a distance then fly and drive.

    Thoughts??

Have them fix it correctly as part of the deal. That looks terrible, along with the carbon fiber sticker. Wtf

Its used, right? I didn't think you could get a Limited with the TRD Pro grill, fenders, fog light bezel.... Just saying, be aware of what you are buying. Might be picking up someone's shitty DIY wiring.. And maybe the previous owner did the sticker and crappy paint and not the dealer..

full disclosure, I bought mine used and have nothing against buy a used vehicle.

Those almost look like air bubbles to me. Seems too smooth around the edges to be paint. It’s hard to tell for sure though.

Yeah it’s used. I believe it was a fully loaded Limited with TRD package and factory lift. Then previous owner swapped the grill, fender flares, fog bezel. It’s at a Porsche Dealer and was a trade in according to them. They did the touch up paint at the dealer.

I may fly down this weekend to check it out. Pics look clean but when I zoomed in I saw the paint touch up and the dealer fessed up they did the touch up.

I think there may be something that the decal is covering up.
I see no other reason to put it on..

I think you might be right. Although I’ve seen that decal on a few websites. Also the door rain guards and the bug deflector need to go.

I’ve been having the sales gal take pictures and send them.
I guess worst case I get the gas door and that section of the bed repainted.

    Just wish it was closer

Looks like a wrap. That gas door most certainly is, looks awful. Open the doors and check the color there.

You're crazy for considering buying this used Tundra without seeing or driving it. First off there's already some paint issues which is very suspicious. Then how about all of the usual Tundra issues such as wind noise, doors rattling, rear diff noise etc. None of those have fixes.

Think about it, why would someone trade in new truck with 6k miles? High chance that it has issues

Definitely fly there and test drive it thoroughly to make sure you won't have regrets. There should be plethora of used Tundra trucks available so why would you go for this one? Just because of the 3in crappy Toyota factory lift with rear spacers?

Yes, but you want a professional do such repair. Not a DIY if you don't have experience tools and knowledge. And you'll probably still be able to see it

Yeah I hear you and you are correct. The reason for one like this is a few.
    1. Lunar Rock color
    2. This one has 6,100 miles on it,
    3. Fully loaded Limited with TRD is hard to find here in the SF Bay Area.
    4. Somewhat close.

I did have them verify NOT a wrap.

We'll see . . . they want to make a deal, but I'll wait a couple of weeks. I'm having my brother go check it out since he lives in Los Angeles and if fairly close.

    Thanks Gents . . .

For what it's worth I've bought 4 cars online sight un-seen and thankfully have been very luck.
    • 2013 Boss 302 - Oklahoma owner. 9,000 miles. Shipped enclosed to me.
    • 2016 Grand Cherokee SRT - Boston Dealer. 5,000 miles. Shipped open carrier to me. (never again open carrier).
    • 2020 GT500 - Los Angeles Dealer. 497 miles. Shipped enclosed up to me. (Still have it)
    • 2020 Trackhawk - Los Angeles Dealer. 197 Miles. Bought online flew down and drove it home. (5 months ago)

    Any paint discrepancy from the waist up is generally considered "eye level". If it's paint - that's a nightmare to repair, if it's a wrap, have them fix it when they're removing the carbon fiber gas cap thing;

Unless you know an absolute stud at a paint/body shop, that will stand out unless the whole bed panel is repainted. If that sort of thing bothers you. If it doesn't, go rip down a trail and put some pinstripes on it - that will take care of it.

    None….so far
All very good points. You can’t get the pro on a limited from the factory.

Unpopular opinion... I kinda like the fuel door lol.

Tell them you're thinking about reconsidering and see if they'll fix it for you.

Yeah this was a Limited where the previous owner swapped the grill, fender flares, and fog light valance. I was planning a grill and fender flare swap anyway, which is why this one has caught my eye. That and the stock Toyota 3" lift which I know some like and some hate.

I'll get a report on Saturday from my Brother when he stops by to check it out.

I agree. It is not a wrap I did confirm that. They used a color matching pen to touch it up. You would think a Porsche Dealer would do better, but that's what they did.

You guys have me second guessing my favorite color now. Lol I have a 23 Tundra Limited in Silver and the scratches barely show. Lol
