The arguments/discussions I've had with my wife over my hearing loss in the last 15 years..
With my high-frequency hearing loss, I can hear things she doesn't hear, but I can't hear things she does hear.

As much as I've told her it's certain parts of speech and her higher frequency voice that I have a problem with it, she gets irritated with me.
Then she tells me my ears are clogged up again, it has happened..

Hopefully, this will diminish a little with the new HAs..
Like you stated, now if I pause and take a second to take in what I hear, I can process it.
But for so many years I've just said 'huh' or 'what' right when she speaks, it will take some time to get used to it...

ive never seen a doctor for mine, so I’m not sure what frequency it is, but its getting pretty bad. I can’t be in quiet rooms. I can only sleep with a fan on full blast. It sometimes drowns out conversation. I’ve heard HAs sometimes help.

 

Seems like a fair trade.

 

So, first time driving the new truck at night. I have learned some things.

My driver side exterior mirror automatically dims! I've never had that in a vehicle before, and it's really pleasant.

I went to adjust the level of my headlights to make sure I wasn't blinding anyone, a feature I missed from my 2019 Tundra, and there's no dial in the cab!

@VelcrowKnight has one in his truck, so I started digging. Turns out the upgraded lights package has auto-leveling headlights!

On the topic of the upgraded headlights; holy chit are they bright! I'm naming the driver side Hiroshima and the passenger side Nagasaki!

Much as I think his wife is awesome, she's not gonna take that downgrade.

The headlight adjustment is second only to the rear sliding window in cool-yet-functional category.

 

IIRC but I think this happened in the opening scene of Forced Vengeance.

Sometimes after wearing hearing aids for a while, your brain readjusts because it hears what it has been missing and the tinnitus can lessen, subside, or diminish.
Also, some hearing aids have 'programs' that help mask or comfort the ringing in your head, but I can't see wearing hearing aids to bed.

I have 7500 Hz tone in my head 24/7/365.
I don't notice it unless it is quiet or when I think about it.
I also sleep with a fan on.
I can't hear this video when it plays because I hear it anyway..

You can download sound-generating apps for your smartphone that might help.
I sometimes use 'A Soft Murmur'.
