Been trying to figure how to add some storage inside the Smart Cap. A Decked system is too much. I just want to have some standard tools, bottle jack, Jack stand, tow straps, tire repair kit, insulated coveralls, and snow chains in the truck but I don't want to give up any bed length. I still want to be able to slide a Pelican 1750 in the back of the 5.6' bed. So I installed a 50" wide toolbox to the bulkhead bed rail. Built a frame to support it. I'm going to build it with extruded aluminum but wanted to prototype it with 2x4s first to see how it deals with the dynamic weight and if I actually like the concept after a couple of weeks. So far its exactly what I was looking for. Going to mount an air compressor on the passenger side in that gap and hard wire it to the battery with Anderson connectors. The idea is I can open the win-doors and access the tool box and connect a 4 hose Morrflate kit to the compressor from the passenger side window.

Thanks for the detail and yes pulling the glove box out of a truck with 130 miles on it scares the ... out of me. I guess I either need to suck it up unless someone has a less intimidating option.

Perfect stance. Just a little rake there? That's what I'm going for.
After I did my 5100's in front it leveled it completely. I need to get the Cornfed 1" spacers in back and it should end up looking almost identical to yours height and stance wise.

    Today:
Blew out the O.E. air filters with compressed air and reinstalled. They looked really good for 13K miles.

Tore out the airbox silencers/ mouse bedding padding while I was in there. AKA, the "more turbo noises" mod. We'll see, haven't driven it yet.

Neither are worthy of a pic.

I hit mine with a foam cannon today & gave it a good bath. Failed to get a pic though, it was pretty dusty & the pollen these days is thick. Also did the same with wife's Lexus. Good overcast day for washing cars.

Quick rear diff oil change and then a lil 2WD mobbin thru the desert since it’s too windy to dirtbike. No chunks on the magnet made me very happy since this is the first diff oil change I’ve done in the 26k miles I’ve had the truck. Bought it with 34k miles and assumed it hadn’t been done since there wasn’t a service record for a 30k service.

Is this their Velcro pad beneath the Uniden or another type of mount ?

Super clean look. EXACTLY what I am wanting to do in my truck.

This is a dangerous thread to follow...

I love my Bullet mount. I got it with a mag phone holder/charger. At the same time I got a nice 3 port USB A/C adapter from Anker for the 12V adapter.

    :yes:It is dangerous, indeed.

There is a huge benefit, though....cuts down on the likelihood of being something that won't work or doesn't solve the problem you set out to solve. Sure is nice to get the intel from other owners who have the benefit of time spent with the gear to provide useful reviews & opinions.

Well.....being a lazy bum got me this morning.
    Got what I deserved.

    Shortcut yielded poor results.

I'd planned on getting a radar detector yesterday. Wanted to get some yard work knocked out first.

Tweaked my trick knee in the process. Uneven spots in yard that have supposedly been "leveled" after Hurricane Helene uprooted trees and kindly dropped then on my house and late wife's BMW X5.

The house repairs are mostly done....at least what insurance was covering. Her car was totaled and has long since been hauled off.

Cutting the grass yesterday and found a new uneven spot that didn't play well with a knee that is years overdue for replacement.

Still wanted to get the radar detector that I'd decided on.....but needed to skip the 20 mile trip and long walk from the far corners of the parking lot where my new Tundra would be parked in hopes that no parking lot shenanigans occurred.

So....from the recliner....ice packs on the knee....busted out the laptop and did the Amazon thing. Unit was $50 cheaper than what it was selling for locally......and they had some crazy 4am-8am free next day delivery.

Sure enough....it was delivered at 5:00am this morning.

Opened up the shipping box and could immediately see the outer tape disc had been peeled back and pushed back down. Fingerprints on the inside. Opened the box and looked inside....everything seemed to be in there, but nothing was in the bags that were loosely placed in the box. Unit display had a blem/smudge on it. Taped surfaces no longer were....it had been peeled back.

In short, it appeared to be either a used or refurbished unit.

Immediately began the return & refund process.

    IMG_5126.jpg IMG_5127.jpg

Looks like I'll be dropping it off at a UPS Store later on today and be heading over to the local store to buy the same unit, paying more for it but getting the assurance of a nib model.

Amazon is fine for some stuff.....but I'll never buy electronics from them again.

I do, however, feel good about the R8 model. I considered the R8W, however, the wifi config they went with is sort of a half-measure that will likely be surpassed by the next version / unit. The R8 is currently offered at a siginificaly lower price than the R8W, too.

It's a magnetic mount. I took the bottom off the radar detector and epoxied a metal plate inside. Works great.

    I like that.

As described in my prior post the R8 from Amazon was delivered this morning....and returned to them this morning via UPS Store.

Drove over to Best Buy and bought a new R8.

    IMG_5140.jpg

Ran it on the way home.

    IMG_5142.jpg

One thing that concerns me is the 12v plug for it seems "supersized" and won't have clearance with the notch on the Bulletpoint tray that is on the way.

    IMG_5153.jpg

Did you encounter such trouble ? Did you swap for another plug ?

Mine is wired to the backside of the 12V port with a Mirror tap. So I keep the front of the port unused and available for other stuff.

Bought one. It doesn't really fit in the garage LOL however it will stay there until I finish ceramic coating it (Gyeon Syncro2).

It's going to look amazing with the Matte ceramic coat.

I'll miss my Taco dearly tho. The comfort and power just doesn't compare.

Many on here either hit the button to turn autostop off when they startup. Or they buy a module that replicates pushing that button at startup.

That wiring looks a bit sketchy at the battery. Is that electrical tape covering a twisted splice?

What's your wheel/tire specs? I like how they don't poke out 10 feet...

Thanks! Runnin 35x12.5 KO2s on a 0 offset method rim (I think it’s a 8.5 inch wide rim). I think the shadows in that pic hide the poke… they probably poke out about an inch at the top of the wheel or 1.5 inches near the bottom of the body. I’m thinking about going to a +20mm offset wheel at some point or get some wider fender flares. Here’s a better head-on pic of my current setup. Not awful, but it definitely slings mud and the occasional rock.

I would expect more poke than that with 0 offset at a 12.5” tire. I am at 20 offset, 12” tire and have 1.25” in front and 1” in rear measuring from edge of flare.

Didn't do much in it today other than burn some gas and this one superfast small budget mod....

Haven't tested it on 20oz Diet Dew or water bottles, the targeted wobblers....just a quick check with a cup that already was stable.

Video in the link below demonstrates it very well.

Changed this console trim from silver to black, I like the black better personally. 20250429_115308.jpg 20250429_115254.jpg 20250429_115621.jpg 20250429_115626.jpg 20250429_115749.jpg
Now, does anyone know how many different variations of these dash pieces there are?? Any colors or part numbers for the three trim pieces shown here?20250429_115644.jpg 20250429_115640.jpg 20250429_115637.jpg
