I keep the WDH in the camper and carry a 3 size/way ball in one of the swing cases.

I leave mine in the receiver. One time on the way to the airport for work early on a winter morning I spun out several times on the river bridge and ended up sliding backwards towards the concrete wall at about 10-15mph. The hitch contacted the wall saving the rear of my truck. Hit so hard it bent the hitch and the cab contacted the bed. Zero damage to the rear bumper or bed. Another time a lady rear ended me at a light. Punched a hole in the front of her car and left no damage on the truck. Team RamRod here.

Left mine in to get used to it being there. No more banged up shins. You're used to it being there so you automatically avoid it.

You can turn it upside down to change the bruise on your shin.

    Thanks for all the replies!

    Summary is:

most leave the hitch in the receiver or at home. A few leave it behind the rear seat back area where the jack is stored. That’s what I’ll be doing.
