It would be really hard to let my 2014 go for another Gen 2.5, even a 4x4. Honestly, it'll be hard period. I bought it new and have worked hard to keep it like new, still only has 76k on it.

If my '06 had been 4x4 I would have kept it when I bought the '20. I loved the Old Gray Mare, and it was in really great condition for any mileage, nevermind 240k.

I get that. Not a lot of people like used vehicles. And paying a note on a used one when yours is paid off is a hard pill to swallow just to get a 4 wheel drive. Food for thought, you could get a good chunk of money for yours and finance very little over 60 months and pay it off in a year though with no money down.

    Yes, indeed.

If you don't have to have the TRD Off Road you can get it for less and still have 4x4. A base limited is still luxury (to me) but I wanted the TRD.

Extras on mine that you could possibly avoid
    • TRD Off Road
    • 360 camera package
    • Steps (I am giving those to @VelcrowKnight for his wife)
    • Bumper step
    • Door edge guards
    • JBL audio
    • Upgraded headlights

I'm not at the truck but I can check the window sticker to get you a total on all the add ons. It's a lot, so you can definitely save if you trim the fat.

Alternately you could put in a cheap locker and toss on a winch bumper

Legitimately, how often have you needed 4x4?

If you stay out of sticky stuff when there's not somebody to assist in recovery then there's no reason to change trucks. I regret it, and I wouldn't recommend it if you love your current truck.

Oh, if that's what you want I can get the numbers with all the fees and how much the interest will be if making minimum payments. It adds up fast.

Almost never, and 2wd is actually better for towing. I had actually looked and planned where I was going to turn around to park the trailer, looked perfectly dry and solid but I immediately sank.

Yeah, with as nice as you've kept it so far I would hold onto it. Maybe walk uncertain areas first, and make sure you've got buddies to drag you if needed.

Nothing wrong with your truck, and you love it.

I wouldn't want the TRD stuff anyways, although I would like the air suspension for towing. We sat in the TRD Rally that Toyota had sent to Sedona, it was well equipped with all the off road goods, 14" screen, and other options. I was told the sticker was "only" $51k.

Yeah, they start at like 48K IIRC, so that's actually a good price to get the off road stuff added.

Big miss by Toyota, IMO, was two tank sizes again. They should only offer the larger tank.

I back @GODZILLA on this one. If you have never needed 4wd or don’t plan changes to your routine that will require 4wd then keep your truck. All the costs and headaches of a new purchase won’t be worth it.

Get your wife a replacement for the Venza… happy wife, happy life.

Funny thing about the Venza is it's a year older than my truck and it has even less miles, a bit under 50k. We bought it used in 2015 with about 25k on it. She always worked from home and the truck was our road trip vehicle, so it doesn't get a ton of use.

Yup. Put the truck budget into the wife's rig and spoil her.

You could even surprise her if you have a salesman who will play along.

Find the rig she wants and one she would settle for. Have the sales guy inflate the wanted one out of budget, work the wife to settle, sign the papers, have them bring around the one she wanted.

    Film it all.

@GODZILLA requested pics from the zoo. Don't feel like editing so you get all natu-ral. Happened to get there when the bear was munching on goose babies. Bonus double rainbow before work this morning as well.

Yeah, but you can use that as justification for keeping your truck. Plus, if you spin it as sacrificing for her you can earn brownie points.

I just remembered, I stopped in Munds Park to get gas and dump the trailer tanks, and when I did I bought a couple of lottery tickets. So I think I'll just go ahead and pick up a new Land Cruiser and a 1794 Tundra cause I plan on winning this week.
