Our daughter bought an electric Camry. I did not know Toyota did such a thing to the Camry. She had a price in her head and she held to it even getting up to leave one time and the boss came over and they struck a deal. HA!!! I was happy for the way she held her own during the purchasing of the car. She had called me during the ordeal, when she came over she said she was acting like she was talking to another dealer. I understand it to be the gas motor charges the battery. Dang thing has some pep and the computer says she is getting 46 mpg. Toyota did some changes and I did not feel too cramped in there when she took me for a drive, the ride felt nice. She likes it and the wife likes it too.
For me though,,,, I'll stay in my Ram, the ride is comfortable, I love the room and we both love the sound system that comes stock in the 1500. :)

I went ahead and paid the $50 for a reservation.

This is something I have been wanting to see come for a while. I'd use it as a side-x-side ultimately. Same price, enclosed, heat AC, can be charged with solar probably, modular, future AWD, decent size, (crossover size), road legal, and more!

I would also rather have a 4 banger and 5 spd, or at least the 5 spd... But, it should be pretty neat.

We will see what happens as time goes on.

    Agreed

it’s what EV’s should have been from the onset

make them affordable and the public will come

this will be a good test of the infotainment craze

we don’t need that crap and the slate don’t have it

I came by that article. Brilliant. Affordable. Upgradable. These will be popular. Looks like a truck and not from a video game. Just might put a deposit on one. I like it that much. Lean manufacturing for real.

I'll fill @GODZILLA 's role and throw some negativity out there for all this Slate hype.

    - unknown battery reliability
    - real world battery range is probably far less than 150
    - resale value likely nonexistent for a $20k vehicle
    - my tall ass probably won't fit in that single cab

I apologize. I don't mean to be negative all the time.

    Your concerns are potentially valid.

see...and you know Porsche will upcharge you about $20k

    because that's how they roll.

who pays $250k for an EV?

    (not Slate buyers)
