What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Clearly that’s a spammer but it wasn’t earth day. It’s red poppy festival here in town. If that’s not enough proof, the classic car show should be.

I did chuckle. At the end all these classics are firing off and revving the motors and you smell the exhaust and hear the rumble and the crowd is cheering and it’s pure American awesome. Then the new electric vw bus pulls out and no one notices or cheers. I love my city.

Finally gears! I had REM polished 5.29 revolution gears installed with a powertrax grip pro in the rear and an Eaton e locker up front…. Also added a dirty deeds 8” system, maiden voyage in the morning!

Nothing too exciting yesterday, needed to build a new crawl space door before I travel for the week.

Had an idea, waiting on execution. I had a spare Natika camera leftover from a previous install where I botched the harness so I bought a new set. Figured I could use it as an auxiliary reverse camera if the tailgate was down. I’ve got it mounted up using one of the existing holes in the rear bumper valence for a push clip - a little bit far from center than I would like, but should suffice nonetheless just as an additional backup view.

I’ll also be using a A/V selector I had laying around collecting dust from a previous BeatSonic CarPlay and HDMI install - this should allow me to switch between the stock reverse camera and this new camera with a triggered 12V signal.

 

Not today, but the past couple of weeks or so I did a few things.

Added the heavier Eibach springs to the TRD Pro suspension. It added 1.5” of additional lift over the TRD Pro Fox suspension. It rides MUCH better. Has significantly less body roll in turns and feels much more stiff but in a good way. I love it.


Slapped some new tires on with the lift. Yokohama Geolander AT XD in 285/75R18. No trimming, no rubbing. Also rides great, and very surprised to still be averaging 15mpg combined driving (70/30 Highway/City).


Slapped on a RC rear bumper and wired up the lights. I bought this immediately after someone ran a light and hit my IS350C, then proceeded to run (what a loser). SDHQ Sliders are next.


Lastly, not tundra related, but I got the IS350C back from the shop. I “weekly” drive both, so I will only accumulate 7500 miles a year on each and keep the miles low. I’m hoping to keep both of these for a loooong time.

Well, hot damn!

 

You can’t beat that price! The only thing I wish it had was tow hooks, but I wasn’t willing to drop an additional $600+ on a different bumper that has them.

 

No kidding, should be pretty easy to fab a couple on.
How does the quality of the powder coating look?

 

Quality of everything on the bumper looks pretty darn good! Just as good as the coating on my SSO front bumper. I have no complaints at all, but time will tell.

 

Installed some Coplus bi beam headlights. Yellow pairs well with the fogs for those dense mornings out here

Transmission fluid drain and fill and greased all my u-joints today.
Hardest part was removing the RCI transmission/transfer-case skid plate. Figured I’d giver her some lovin’ since 100k is right around the corner!

 

Did you snag them from the eBay seller? I’ve been watching for them from somewhere else but striking out.

 

I did, yes. And ya they are hard to find anywhere else

 

Drove it ~1350 miles each way to get some time in the dirt with a bunch of old friends and a few new ones…

 

I did these, 10x times better. but I still catch a glimpse of silver/gray and wish I plasti dipped it or something. Good alternative until I find the right thing.
