We test drove the Tundra - no real complaints other than the remote start. What killed it for us is you can't custom order the vehicle. I would care less about it being configured exactly the way I wanted it if I were going to purchase a $20-30k economy car. That's just not the case with anything that $50+k for us.

I was considering a new lariat FX4 at one point with the 5.0 but the cylinder deactivation and rubber belt driven oil pump had me re-think my choice. Plus when it came down to it, Toyota has a better rep for customer service and quality than Ford does.

My 502a has the 8-speaker B&O instead of the unleashed because it wasn't standard until 2024 and I went for a dealer stock truck this time around.

Daily Motor does sound system reviews and said the 8-speaker is about the same overall sound quality as the Tundra JBL and the Unleashed is the best stock system he has heard in a pickup.

I would have gone for the better system if I ordered it, but this one is just good enough to not annoy me and the truck had all of my non-negotiables. I was looking for a leftover '23 to use a private cash offer and get the low rates at the time.

You guys that just added new vehicles - congrats and I think its a good move timing wise.
Predictions this morning are there will be an across the board hit "rise" of $3000 on vehicles due to the tariffs.
And it doesnt matter that Tundras and F150's are "assembled" in the US.
The parts they use come from everywhere, cross the borders multiple times back and forth - they are hit with tariffs each time.
Reports are GM was scrambling to move completed Mexico trucks over to the US side before the deadline hit.
Tacomas are also made in Mexico - also Rams.

That 3k is probably on an average vehicle, too - a full size truck has more materials so I could see Tundras and F-150s having to go even higher.

I've told myself I need to keep this truck for at least 6 years and I have a Ford warranty to carry me through that long in case things go wrong. I'll revisit in 2030 at the earliest.

Yeah, it could be until these countries decide that the USA is the greatest country for their products and reduce the price of the items accordingly. The domestic gas production and reduction of gas prices could offset the tariffs, but this is not smart business regardless of what side of the aisle you are on.

LOL, at whoever lemon lawed a Tundra only to buy another one. I think you can only lemon law a maker 1 or 2 times before they ban you from buying their products ever again. Why would someone buy another of something they lemon lawed in the first place.

You mean when Michigan became Mexico?
    Companies answer to the shareholders.
Labor costs are a huge factor.
Mexico has much lower wages/worker costs.
Could have been China too. Tesla has a huge factory there.

Realized I never updated this thread after my multi state trip in the raptor. What made it even more fun was my buddy has a brand new 3rd gen Tundra and went on the same trip.

Have had the Raptor over a month now- one big roadtrip and one big offroad trip (300ish miles on dirt).

I’m not even going to compare my 2nd gen tundra and this raptor- two different categories of truck. A more fair comparison would probably be a basic XLT with the 5.0. At that point- I would choose the tundra cause I loved it so much but this Raptor is goofy amounts of fun. It’s borderline confusing how smooth this linked rear is and how well this truck drives in the dirt.

My buddies third gen tundra was super nice! We did the same trails- although he was a bit slower to get to the end of each part. I kept parking and sitting on the tailgate waiting for him to catch up. ;)

I got slightly better mpg as well on and off road during our big trip. I gained a lot of respect for the 3rd gen this trip.

Im really just rambling but I still think the raptor is a great buy- we’ll see if I eat my words later but so far I am pretty impressed and feeling good about the truck. Missing my tundra less and less as the days go by. still planning on buying another (albiet- older) 2nd gen to keep at our property in CO.

Friend of mine picked up his 2024 XLT Powerboost yesterday afternoon. Took it in this morning because the heater only works when the engine is running, not when it's in electric only mode. He didn't have that issue with either of his two previous Powerboosts.

When I was researching, the powerboosts just had so many more issues than the other powertrains. Loads of recalls, that Ford haters love to point out, were for the PB.

Though the V8 has had its growing pains, it's the least problematic in their half tons.

My buddy wanted to get into another Lariat but his dealer didn't have any Powerboosts. He uses the generator so much that he couldn't go with anything else.

    Except maybe a Sienna.

Even the non-PB Fords have 2000W available, 500 more than the Sienna

He could always get by with a Poor Mans Powerboost until he gets the Real Thing
And it does have some real advantages over a real P.O.W.E.R.B.O.O.S.T.
Its portable, can be put in any vehicle - and you can bring it in the house if you have a power outage.
and you can use the trolling motor battery in your boat along with the inverter. 8^)

I'd just do a lariat 5.0 and buy a nice Honda generator. Then I'd still have a generator if my truck broke down.

Nice thing about the PowerBoost built-in generator is it's mostly silent. Mine starts the engine for a minute or two a few times per hour and idles to recharge the hybrid pack, then it shuts down again.

In line with my previous statement, I have returned to the Tundra.

I still love the 5.0 engine. It was flawless, but in a poorly executed package, and my transmission was acting weird, so I'm in a '25 Tundra Limited.

They (ford) have some great things too. But as a whole I just felt the build quality was lacking.

Thought that was you on the Ford boards. On my powerboost it's been a relatively quiet year. Couple fluke codes that were nothing. Flushed tranny, put some General Grabbed Ats on it that cost me a couple mpgs.

Now that I am a glutton for tech I'm still planning to hold out to 2030 when my premium care is up and let the Ram Charger develop a track record.

10 speed flawless so far but doesn't have the CDF drum revision so keeping an eye on it.
