    All physical repairs use bondo (body filler/mud) to help flatten out repairs. Metal panels very rarely can be beat out perfectly straight, so body filler is used to bridge that gap. There really isn't anything wrong with it if its prepared correctly with hardener and also prepped for paint right. The preparation phase is what causes the bondo cracks and failuers.

    Also, a lot of the bad bondo jobs that you have probably seen is from lower quality repair shops/techs that just put inches of bondo instead of even repairing the panel beforehand. They get paid the labor hours for the repairs but instead just throw a thick layer to save time. It's not meant to be used this way and only as a thin-ish layer to help with the metal smoothness. You probably haven't even noticed a good repair with body filler because it was done correctly.

    Drained the transmission for my very 1st time, pretty much filled up the entire 5qt bucket, and looks pretty clean.

    I just fucking sent it. I drove it last week and didn't hear any wahwah sounds so I said fuck it. Got the brakes replaced Tuesday night with Casey, then lifted the driver front almost 2 inches. It's pretty well leveled out now, but I have a ton of caster now. I'm gonna give those uppers to Terry and let him work his magic.

    That work you did is holding up extremely well. I put it through some tough shit and it at it up. Thank you so, so much for what you built. It's amazing. The brakes are superbly amazing. I may need a bit more bias to the rear. I was able to lock the fronts up on pavement, but not the rears.

    So we've restested, all the other pins on the oem end of the harness you pictured are giving readings when using blinkers, pressing brakes, etc. However, only the center pin thats supposed to be the 12v isnt giving anything. We tested at the battery w/the 30a fuse harness and the grey connector, those also gave readings. Even tried testing to make sure the 3rd brake light and leds are working properly by connecting the loose wires to the battery terminal--they worked fine. Some reason the center pin or whatever wire running from the battery isn't giving constant hot/12v to the rear harness. Might just have to rerun a brand new line from the battery to the rear at this point

    Just this week a 2001 owner dealt with this same issue regarding lack of voltage to that center pin and thankfully made a separate thread concerning his issue.

    If you feel like pursuing it further before running new wire, in link below, those are the connectors(IA4 and BB1) and location you can look for. Your 02 will be same as their 01.

    01 Access Cab Trailer lights wiring?

    Thank youu, you're right--perfect timing. The black wire at BB1 is good, at least right before the connector itself. Its hard to get to the actual BB1 connector under the seat, but able to access the wire from coming out of the loom and measure. Is there a way to get under the seat where those connectors are without just removing the entire seat? Update, actually able to test it at the connector too and got a reading. Which would mean its likely just failing somewhere along the frame

    As for your question about seat removal, I had to on my 04 when I needed to check a connection under carpet....pain in ass otherwise.
    Sounds logical if you have it after BB1 toward back, you're getting closer to open....less to splice in if need be.

    Fuck yeah! Glad everything is working well together.

    Play with the bias knob some. IIRC we are somewhere in the middle of the range and should have plenty of adjustment either way. I'd try two full turns, test, and repeat until satisfied. Just tell grill which way you went so you don't forget :rofl:

    Yessir, will have to get back at it another day though. But the plan now is to find the failure point along the framerail, and splice into it just before that, and run the new/hot wire towards the back to the harness/connector

    Decided to finally properly test fit these tires. At full bump this tire size will never fit with wheel spacers unless I cut the entire fender as well as modify a small section of the firewall. Going to extend the bumps maybe 1/4”. I did some trimming, hammering and grinding to make them fit at almost full bump

    Still having issues with water getting in the driver side floor. It's worse when I park with the front end down hill. I've got a bunch of the interior pulled out and I can't for the life of me figure where the water is coming in at exactly. I did replace my door gutter seal since it looked pretty bad but it didn't make any change.

    Windshield is original as far as I can tell, I'm starting to wonder if it's those little clips that the metal Windshield trim screws into on the sides. I guess I'm gonna have to pull those next and see if I can seal them up, I think I got new ones in my big parts order I made during the sale, just have to see if they're right. Trying to tackle this before I corrode my integration relay.

    The best way to inspect this would be to do a water test with two people.

    Pull the lower sill plate, kick panel trim and the left windshield pillar trim for the inspection. Then, have a water hose ready to control the flow of water until you get a water line. Someone outside to run the water and someone inside to inspect.

    The best results that we've used at my shop is with hot water. It's much easier to see the leak with hot water steam.

    This is a good idea. This is probably the only way I'll find it. I've got the inside A pillar trim pulled as well as the lower dash trim and I can't see any trail from water coming in. Guess I'll just have to get the water flowing on purpose and see what I see

    From PHM's build thread, maybe the tab holes that run up the A-pillar? If not, maybe bottom windshield seal. I feel like I saw you post pics of you pulling up the side windshield trim on your driver side to check this though? I think PHM's way of dealing with those is ideal.

    Yeah those clip holes are what I'm thinking it might be. I ordered what I think are new ones in case I damage anything in the process. I'm really worried about stripping/breaking the phillips screws that go into those.

    Just have to find time to commit to pulling this apart and knocking it out.

    Yeah, I'm tempted to do it proactively. And I think using a healable skin over the holes to better waterproof the holes is ultimately the only futureproofing possible for this issue.

    I think we're going to continue seeing more and more cases of water-in-fusebox as our trucks are passing that 15-20 year mark, and have been able to accumulate so much buildup, rust, and debris in those spots.

    I'd be tempted to tell anyone doing that trim to get all new OEM hardware (screws, inserts) and tape over like PHM did. PHM's option was truly a genius idea IMHO.

    Ya know, this is what I thought of first when you showed that picture of the tape over. I learned of healing skin when the roofers replaced the vent pipes on my roof and it seems really, really useful for this application.

    Ugh. Did it take a chunk of the windshield with it, or is that just adhesive?

    The Loctite kit they sell at the store works quite well.
