I don't think aquatic turtles really leave the water to eat. They typically will leave the water to bask in the sun and warm up. I think you need to reconsider your strategy around placing food on the platform as it doesn't align with the natural behavior of aquatic turtles. It may actually attract other critters making it less desirable for the turtles.

My question would be, when does the platform get direct sun and warm up and is that when you are outside looking for the turtles? They may very well be using the platform but not when you are out there looking for them.

 

Sun hits the platform from sun up till ~4pm.

I will now refrain from chumming the platform.

and nobody is there to scare them most of the week.

we put all of our family pictures on our main Kitchen computer....and use it as the screen saver. 1000's of pictures.

it's awesome to see all those family memories pop up randomly.
