Broke the passenger side mirror

Do i need a whole new mirror? Backed out of the garage and misjudged the side. Broke it.

 

yeah ,man...you need a new mirror...I tried the new glass from aftermarket and it didn't fit right...you're housing has a part that "pops" on the glass holder, which is still on the mirror glass it appears...the part on the mirror housing itself in the center look broken...sorry man...

Fred Anderson has their 25% sale going on right now for a couple more days but they're not cheap...eBay is the best best unless you have Facebook Marketplace...I ended up taping the old glass on where it was almost "sealed" onto the housing while I waited on finding mine on marketplace...God's speed!

 

At first I thought the mount was broken, but according to this video you can replace it..
Any time I've removed the mirror glass, the glass popped off the mount, I've never seen the mount come off with the glass.

BTW I love my Spotter mirrors, but they don't make them with both BSM and the turn signals, it is one or the other..

The ball that ‘pop’ in is broken. Along with 2 of the adjusting or tilting wheels.

Im wondering if i can buy a donor mirror and swap over the motor and mirror mounting plate like this one ?

Be patient and look for a good quality used one...not worth buying brand new...

 

just make sure you look at the Platinum mirror that boasts the puddle light under the mirror...or you can make your own version from the SR/SR5 or Limited trim mirror versions work...

 

I may do that. I need to tape it up so i can see out the back.

 

I just swapped out my factory mirrors for towing mirrors. They are heated, have electric adjustability and blind spot features. I’ll be happy to cut you a good deal on the right side. Not sure if there are additional features for the platinum though that would be missing.

 

Does your have the auto dimming, and the puddle lights under the housing?

I have a set of 2016 limited trim- power adjust, heat, BSM sitting in my garage if you need a donor for parts let me know. I’d let them go for cheap for someone in need.

I would but i would loose the adjustability because two of the teeth that move the mirror are broken. Im working with @Yota303 at the moment to get something done. Im hoping what i plan on doing will work.

Update and closure for anyone following.
Ended up doing the mirror motor swap but not as easy as initially thought.
Again, thank you to @Yota303 for being so generous to donate the mirror assembly.
Unfortunately i could not use the motor out of his mirror as it is a 4 pins and mine being platinum is 6 pins. i needed the adjustment wings from and motor cover from his mirror. Ao came the dissection and transplant.
I had to transfer the contact legs from my broken wing to his. The wing already has the spot for it. Just need a way to press and secure the contact leg in place. End up using soldering iron on high heat to melt the nub down which secured the contact legs. See photos below. Then i had to trim a piece of the cover where the 4/6pins was. After all that, everything snapped back in and tested. Work!!! Reassemble everything, jb weld the broken pieces to the housing, all is good. For now.

 

I’ve be on the look out for a good used mirror. Seeing some on ebay but the part number is different.
When i plug in my vehicle info on toyota website it gave this part number:

I really just beed the housing with build in folding and puddle light. I can transfer the harness from mine over so everything on my mirror will work.
The part number are definitely not the same.

 

I found out that you can actually separate the mirror’s frame from the cover. So really, all i need is the cover where mine is damaged.
