How close up do you wanna be? Like, up in your face close or some distance? I would say 55-200 would be enough for most general usage, the 70-300 would more be in the pro field. Also, see if Sigma also other brands have the same lens, possible for less.

Something close enough where it doesn't look like a speck in the back of the picture, if that makes sense? I am not looking for professional type imagery, but I was trying to get some pictures of some squirrels in my yard yesterday, and you could see them, but there was not close detail.

So, nothing that would appear in a wildlife magazine, but something that when I take pictures, I can see and so can others, what I am snapping a picture of, if that makes sense?

55-200, that's your best bet right there.
    https://www.amazon.com/Sigma-55-200mm-Telephoto-Digital-Cameras/dp/B0001VQ12Y
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/204100654936?chn=ps&google_free_listing_action=view_item

Just some ideas on price, of course, USA sourced would be more.

It comes down to personal preference, and sorry that I just grabbed the first link available, didn't check it was Canon.
But most DX mount would work, you can also go for the original Nikon lens if the cost difference is minimum and you can take the hit to the wallet.

No worries. I was just thinking that it would be awesome if it did because it would open up a lot more options :)!

Thanks. The KEH is a Nikon and is about $10 cheaper. I will see what I can do, but that helps.

Thank you for your advice on this.

I did download the Nikon user manual and will carry that with me as I am learning too.

Will check with my accountant to see if we can :). She has been wanting me to find a hobby and I am enjoying what I am doing so far.

Wait, I thought your truck was your hobby, or is that just a "work" work truck?
Just don't show her the receipts otherwise you need a heart attack fund....lol

LOL! Well, the work truck is a work truck but doubles as my camping, and camper towing truck, so she gets joy out of that part. She is good with that work being done, LOL!

This is a hobby that she gives me the cross eye as I am snapping pictures. I am trying to get her in them, but she usually ducks and hides when it comes out. The only other issue is that she does the books in our family. I can do it, but she does better. She sees it all whether I show her receipts or not! :bananadead:

So, I grin, smooze it over, and then work harder to pay it back! :D

Ah, yes, mine is the same, she's the book keeper, while I can't math to save my own two shits....
My wife actually like photography, before we had kids, we were in CA and in Yosemite every two months, playing with different lens and camera body and to sightseeing.
Now with kids, yea, it is harder....lol

So, you understand well then! LOL! My wife does an amazing job for sure, and I am thankful for her doing that.

That area would produce some amazing pictures. And yes, you have to go quick with kids! LOL. Thankfully my two want to try photography as well, and so they have their own little cameras and they are excited to go out with me one day to do some.

Those are some Nasty Critters in more ways than one!!
My female Boxer found out the hard way!!
She just wanted to play like always and got a rude awakening in the form of a Huge knot on Her Noggin!!!
    She got away Lucky!!!
Used to shoot em by the dozen!!!
I'd pick em up with the front end loader and dump em on the highway median.
When the mowers came by twice a year it sounded like someone dropped a Grand Piano off a 10 story building!!
They would tear up the ground around my bridge abutments and when the river flooded like it does a couple times a year it would undermine them.
Wish you could have them processed but the Deer Processor wont touch em since they carry more than a few diseases and are covered in ticks and fleas!

Not from today but from this week. DSC_0038.jpg DSC_0020.jpg There is a female goose in this pic. If you look at the smaller pile of sticks, and then how it looks like a finger pointing toward the water. Right on the edge, you can see that really dark shape. That is the head. She is on her nest.

DSC_0038.jpgDSC_0026.jpg Here is the male. He is located, if you look at two pictures up, just on the left of the tree that is on the bottom left of the pic. So they were some twenty feet apart from each other.

ETA: Forgot about the 1/3 rule with the pic of the flower. I was caught up in snapping pictures that the form disappeared. Sorry.

It's nice to be able to sand blast parts.
It's the fastest and best way to remove rust and prep for paint.
Bought a blast cabinet at Harbor Freight and after several mods it worked great!!
Being down South the hardest thing to overcome was moisture in the system.
Once I got that figured out it worked Great!!!ll
It's one of those things you dont think about until you need it.
Once you have one you dont know how you did without for so long!!

It's kinda like a Welder in that respect.
When you can make two pieces of metal stick together it opens up a whole new world of shit you can build!!!
