I'd like to share a story about why I no longer indulge in psychedelic mushrooms.

Several months ago, a friend gifted me a large amount of dried mushrooms. He suggested soaking some in fresh lemon juice, straining out the solid matter, and adding the juice to a tea. I followed his instructions and, after fasting for two days, drank the concoction—my first mistake.

My buddy told me it would take roughly an hour to feel the effects. But he hadn’t accounted for my total lack of experience and, therefore, zero tolerance. About 20 minutes in, I started feeling giggly. By the 40-minute mark, while watching The Rookie, Nathan Fillion turned into a LEGO man. Then everything turned into LEGOs.

At first, I was having an incredible time. But soon, it became overwhelming, so I went downstairs to lay in the dark—a move that might have been an even bigger mistake. Without external stimuli, my mind went into overdrive. Suddenly, the bugs appeared: maggots, cockroaches, nightcrawlers, and mealworms—all the worst arthropods imaginable.

The saving grace was that I’m a biologist and not afraid of creepy crawlies. As a man of science, I reminded myself that this was just the toxins altering my state of mind—none of it was real. Still, I needed grounding, so I reached out to @GODZILLA and explained the situation and had to have him help talk me through and bring me back to reality.

Eventually, I turned on YouTube and started watching videos about astral projection, which led me to a guide on how to do it. Before I knew it, I was cruising through the cosmos, marveling at the universe—or I was just tripping absolute balls, and none of it was real. Either way, it’s astonishing what the mind can create.

While it was a bit much (I used about an ounce on my first try), I have to admit—the effects on my lingering mental struggles from years of war were remarkable. That said, I’m now looking forward to my trip to Colorado to work with the people at MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelics).

 

Beer has such a low alcohol content and is so fizzy its difficult to drink enough to really tie on one. I dont count voodoo ranger as beer because IPA is dog piss and undeserving of the name beer.

 

I tried weed for the first time at 36, I’m 38 now. My wife is a bit of a stoner though

 

Hahah @Azblue aint that the truth. I guide a bunch of people on fishing trips they always bring IPA with them on the boat. What ever happened to enjoying PBR it’s always IPA and seltzers these days
