My 21 was built 8/26/21 and now has just over 40K miles. Once home for the summers it doesn't get driven much. A week ago after sitting 5 days I noticed the starter cranking a little bit slower. After a 10 mile drive it was parked again. 15 hours later I checked the battery voltage and it was only 12.21 VDC. I put my good Iota 15 amp charger on it and after going through the bulk and absorption stages 8 hours later it went to float.
No additional electrical devices installed and don't suspect a larger than normal parasitic drain so I'm just going to proactively replace the battery before heading south this fall.

    Fun, Fun Fun.:annoyed:

Dealer replaced the battery in my truck just prior to me buying it last year. They had installed a 24F. They should have installed a 27F.

If I suspect a battery issue.
Using a multimeter check the voltage after parked for a few days.
Have someone start up the vehicle while holding multimeter to terminals.
If it drops below 10 volts change it out.
My 2018 Tundra Toyota battery defies explanation.
12.6 volts or more after a few days sitting without trickle charge.
I do carry a boost pack with me that lets me air down and up and do a boost if needed.
If I was in the US south, no way it would have lasted this long. Heat is the enemy.

    Too many, but not enough....
Check your battery cells once in a while. Little distilled water goes a long way.

Right now it's a toss up between Sam's and Costco. I usually buy from Rural King but there aren't any near Port Aransas TX were we are going for the winter this year. I've been replacing car batteries at 5 years proactively and it's been working well. Sort of. I put a new RK battery in my Mom's Civic Feb. 2020 and didn't get it replaced until March this year. I had the new battery here on a freshening charge when she called to tell me she couldn't get the car started.

I find it much easier to be proactive with replacing batteries. It always happens at the most inconvenient times

Why is it that if you get a standard battery it's 27F and AGM is 24F?

I had a 27F AGM battery in my Tundra until just recently. Replaced it with a 24F because the 27F NorthStar battery weighed almost 70 lbs. The 24F AGM was much easier to handle/install and cranks my 2015 just fine. Age takes a toll on all of us..

Do you have to up the voltage on a 27F, but not the 24F?

I don't know what it is with factory installed batteries or tires, they have half the life of anything you purchase from an auto parts store.

I didn't when I had my 27F AGM in my truck. I would just hook up my Noco trickle charger/maintainer to it once a month. I do the same thing with the 24F AGM I now have.

Yep! And, how about the spare tire you get with a new vehicle, if you get one at all. Down-sized and "do not exceed 50mph".

I got my new battery at Sam's yesterday and after an overnight charge installed it this morning. DOM was 2/25. On the Sam's battery rack the first one out was one dated 6/24. I stood at the tire center for almost 15 minutes waiting on an employee to help me and decided the best way to get their attention was to enter the employee only area and pick out my own battery. That got their attention right quick. The employee balked at my wanting the freshest battery saying policy was to take oldest first. I asked him if did that when he bought milk for his kids.
Battery area on the truck cleaned and no ox grease on all the terminals and chassis grounds in the area and she spins over noticable faster now. Did find my Scan Gauge II blank and a disconnect of the Ethernet cable and reboot got that fixed. Did have to cycle through on one to bring RPM back up but the water temp and both trans temps stayed.

Even if driven daily, you'll add time to your battery's lifespan if you saturate the cells with a smart charger once a month. Wet cell water checks, too.
