I just received a voicemail from the local Toyota dealer letting me know of a firmware update for my 2018 Tundra. The customer relations person said it is a one hour free appointment to update "performance". Expressions like "It's an hour and it's free" "It makes your vehicle run better and last longer" were used. Has anyone else received this kind of phone call from a dealership? I'm always skeptical of any kind of offer like this because of...well, I'm skeptical of dealerships.

Call back and tell them your time is money and the clock starts when you leave home and stops when you get back. Set your hourly rate.

It sounds like BS. When they get your truck they will find all sorts of BS things wrong with your truck

I'll bet that's it. Firmware isn't delivered via a laptop. Sneaky bastards. They'll do anything to get a good Gen 2.5.

Whatever this forum told me to do
If my memory serves me correctly

there was a fit kit update to the transmission a year or so ago

this opened up the ecu for tuning

    Too many, but not enough....
This is an actual ecu update or a update you can do with a flash drive at home? I was never notified of an update to firmware. Is there a tsb to reference or something?

    dunno

All I know is D3 performance used the transmission update to be able to tune the tundra for the S/C.

    it opened up the ecu

but I do remember it was specifically for the transmission. From Toyota.

fine tuning shift points or some bullshit.

Actually it is, TIS on a laptop is how firmware updates are applied. That said the only firmware update I have seen talked about around here is the one for the hitch for people experiencing the disconnect notice on the dash.

When I tuned my tundra (19’) I had to do a TSB update. So something did change in the last year.
