Washer fluid reservoir relocate

Has anyone relocated their windshield wiper reservoir for the first GEN tundra? My tires are starting to rub and looking to relocate before a tear it out.

That can be repurposed as a windshield fluid reservoir. Have the same reservoir @alb1k used but didn’t have enough room in engine bay since my compressor sits where his is located. I wasn’t cool enough to mount my compressor in cab.

 

I wasn't the one that didn't know what a nalgene was lol. They were very useful and popular at summer camp growing up.

 

I use a similar one for my blinker fluid.

 

I bought a small washer fluid bottle kit off Amazon and it fit just fine and already had the spot for the wiper fluid motor. The coolant reservoir that @alb1k has looks like a great fitting option.

Thats just overkill, you shouldn’t need a reservoir for your blinker fluid. Just keep the bottle in the truck and top off when necessary!

 

How do you do this mod? I know there's a pump involved, in just wondering how you tie that into something like a water bottle like this

 

If you buy an aftermarket reservoir, there's a hole that you just plug the pump into. If you make your own; like the one posted above, then you have to drill a hole and use the grommet and pump from your existing one. Just have to drill the same size hole and pump works just fine plugged into a different container.

 

Anybody have a write up on how to do the relocation? I need to do this to clear 35's

 

Talk to @Voss, I remember he made this post BITD. I think this is the kit.

It looks like maybe @oscardog86 has done reloc also. I imagine you can use any container, you just need to cut a hole to mount the pump and wiring.

Ideal situation, if the pump screws into the plastic, would maybe be cutting the plastic boss/holder off the OEM tank (or get one from Dorman) and plastic-weld it to the new tank. Or if they're not like-material, epoxy the two boss onto the new tank.

 

Do you remember which one you bought?

 

Unfortunately those are all sold out. I wonder which one he used, since there's a few options and none are Tundra

one. It's a little cleaner looking and should be easier to mount. Just make sure to save the gasket for the pump and install it on the new container.
