Elevation (2024). Max. Creatures appear from below the ground to wipe out humanity, except those residing above 8K feet. It is never revealed why the critters can’t go past that elevation, or maybe I missed that part.

Threads (1984). Tubi. Graphic depiction of a nuclear war aftermath in England. US and Russia bomb each other on Iranian soil.

Boxcar Bertha (1972). Prime. An early Scorsese film that many consider an exploitation film ( of then 24 year old Elizabeth Hershey). I don’t agree with that characterization but agree this is one film Scorsese can leave off his resume. Carradine had just started his first season in Kung Fu when this film was released.

Tender Mercies (1983). Prime. Decent watch but a bit slow for me. The film felt like a network’s Sunday night movie. A then 29-year old Ellen Barkin plays an 18-year old; she did not look the part. Got an Oscar for best actor (Duvall) and best writing.

King of New York (1990). Tubi. Great cast, Frank as the anti hero I found to be a boring nothing-new storyline.

To Sleep with Anger (1990). Tubi. I like Danny Glover in action films. This one was a bit of a bore.

Blue Ruin (2013). Tubi. An independent little gem. Kept me on my toes.

Blow Out (1981). Tubi. Our protagonist inadvertently records a murder and goes about solving it. Good cast and it was going so well but did not like the end-of-movie sequence. The film is a reinterpretation of Blow-Up.

Blow-Up (1966). Prime. Quirky Brit flick. Our protagonist inadvertently captures a murder on film but the film ends rather abruptly with no solution to the murder. And that mime sequence is weird. One great redeeming value is that the 1966 lineup of the Yardbirds is featured - that lineup included Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.

The Hill (2965). Tubi. Pretty good Brit flick set in a military jail; starring Sean Connery, who leads the fight against sadistic guards. A sad unforeseen ending.

I watched the first season of White Lotus the weekend, I still have one more episode to watch tonight.
Sydney Sweeny and Alexandra Daddario, how bad could it be?

The Hudsucker Proxy (1994). Tubi. Classic Coen brothers comedy.

Local Hero (1983). Tubi. A pleasant watch. Makes me want to go visit Scotland.

Stir of Echos (1999). Tubi. Good psychological horror flick. Started to watch the 2007 sequel but gave up on it. Completely different feel and had none of the original cast.

The Search for General Tso (2014). PlutoTV. Documentary on the savory Chinese chicken dish - strictly a US dish now, like cashew chicken and chop suey. Spoiler: the General Tso chicken dish was invented in Taiwan but immigrated to the US in 1950’s where it flourished. Today, Chinese nationals have never heard of the dish, but the general is revered in his province.

All the King’s Men (1949). Tubi. The ubiquitous story that absolute power corrupts. Good cast - won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress Oscars.

Pride and Glory (2008). Tubi. An intense police drama similar to training Day in intensity. Solid cast with Farrell, Norton and Voight.

Bad Boys (1983). Tubi. A classic 80’s film I had only seen bits and pieces before. Good flick.

The 400 Blows (1959). Max. French, with subtitles. Film ends rather abruptly; otherwise, a sad but well told story of a juvenile coping with an unhappy home life.

The Seventh Seal. (1957). Max. Swedish with subtitles. A peculiar film I enjoyed more than I thought I would. A knight returns home after the Crusades amidst the black plague epidemic. He challenges the grim reaper to a chess game to buy him enough time to see his beloved.

Primer (2004). Prime. Two engineer-friends make a time machine. I found the film a bit fast-paced and confusing. I am not jumping on the cult-movie bandwagon.

Belle de Jour (1967). Max. French with subtitles. A housewife that doesn’t give it up to her adoring husband decides to turn to prostitution - doesn’t everyone!?

Call Northside 777 (1948). Internet Archive. A reporter helps prove an innocent man was convicted of killing a cop. Based on an actual event. With James Stewart in a well done film.

Time Traveller’s Wife (2009). Max. A bit different twist to time travel, and with a heavy dose of romance thrown in.

Mauna Kea (2006). Temple Under Siege. OiwiTv. Documentary of locals opposing the use of Mauna Kea, which they consider a sacred location.

Persona (1966). Max. Despite the lack of action, the film kept me glued to my couch. Worth a rewatch.

Just finished the "Wild Wild Country" docu-series after hearing it being brought upon Rogan a few weeks ago. Pretty crazy what that cult was up to. Also just finished the HBO documentary "An American Bombing: The Road to April 19th" that was released last year. IMO there was a bunch more people involved that the government wasn't interested in prosecuting. I happened to hear about that one on another Joe Rogan episode (#2295) that was pretty awesome and I'd highly recommend listening to.

Seconds (1966). Pluto. Interesting and thought-provoking.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). Prime. An odd ball but entertaining.

The Big Lewboski (1998). Prime. A rewatch - it came on after Fear & Loathing and I just kept watching. A classic.

    Mm...1/2 meh..
Some of these plots in movies, even american movies.. Group goes to rescue some guy, half the group gets mauled over by enemy, but they saved one guy! Or at the end that guy they were saving sacrifices himself for that group. No logic. Saving private ryan comes to mind.

Poor Things (2023). Prime. “Furious Jumping” is the name of my new band. Great cast and acting, interesting story line.

Palm Springs (2020). Hulu. A bit too similar to Groundhog day but still found it entertaining.

Saw Tangerines earlier this year. Good movies.

Donnie Darko (2001). Hulu. A mind bender - great 80’s soundtrack.

The Truman Show (1998). … good afternoon, good evening, and good night. That was entertaining.

24 Hour Party People (2002). Prime. The music scene in Manchester with Tony Wilson. Entertaining but nothing special.

Kes (1969). Prime. What a sad abrupt ending. Good otherwise, especially considering this was lead actor’s first film.

The Killing (1956). Tubi. Good crime drama flick. What a shitty, and unbelievable, way to lose the stolen $$.
