I recently purchased a 2004 tundra SR5 4x4 6 cylinder, I believe the rearend is toast and I’m trying to figure out what the gear ratio is, no tow package, auto. This is what’s on the door sticker.

I’ve seen that in a few places but then I also see where it was only trucks with the tow package that had the 4.30. I don’t think it had the tow package it just has an overdrive button on the end of the shifter.

This is how to decode the sticker below the driver door latch (on the physical door) which gives your drivetrain specs: https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-2250#post-3818756

The problem is, trying to find any legitimate source of info on the Tundra axle decoding from '00-'04 and '05-'06 has been elusive for me, so I can't tell you what A05A is, exactly. I can tell you, with certainty, that info you'll find on Tacoma, and on various spec sheets around the internet, didn't add up math-wise for my truck.

    That said ...

This is the list @whodatschrome pulled together, though I'm not sure the original source.

It does look like it should be the 4.30 ratio, I’m going to yank it out I’m sure it will have some numbers or I can count teeth or something.
    Thank you

Here’s a sure fire way to figure it out. I literally copied the first video that i google searched. Perhaps there’s better videos, but this will explain how to determine the ratio.

If it turns out you need new gears, due yourself a favor and install a lower gear set in both the front and rear. Even if you still have the small stock sized 245/70-16 tires. Your truck will thank you by rewarding you with better fuel economy, longer transmission life, regaining lost HP, better acceleration, more useable cruise control.
