I'd consider the paintless dent repair. I've had it done, not on a roof though, and it came out great. My issue on the roof would be getting the antenna sealed..

Add a roof rack up there and you’ll never see the damage.

Just be careful, as a lot of the roof racks out there can compromise the side curtain airbags if installed wrong.

I went to three additional body shops that were recommended by neighbors. All three of them told me that the roof needs to be replaced. A large section of the roof near where the shark fin is located has a lot of flex now due to the damage. So it would be very difficult to keep it from leaking around the shark fin.

I also noticed today that when I’m driving down the road with the windows down, which I did for the first time since the damage happened, I can hear the roof flexing while driving (it’s fairly loud).

One of the body shops mentioned the possibility of leaks damaging the curtain airbags as another factor in replacing the roof. Basically the roof has too much flex now for a repair (instead of replace) to be reliable.

Wow that's unfortunate ... I guess roof replacement with insurance claim is best route to pursue.

Agreed. I guess the silver lining is at least this way I won’t be driving around worried that I’m gonna have leaks.

if you have an accident within the first 6 months they will drop you and not cover repairs, then you have to fight to get the rest of the money you just paid for a year of coverage back. Ask me how I know... f state farm to the moon!!
