I installed my smart cap about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Assembled myself and had 3 friends help me lift it in place. Overall a easy install process. I've only put a few hundred miles on since then as I have a work truck and never put a lot of mile on my personal truck. After about 100 miles I went over all bolts and torqued again to spec. Over all I am very pleased. Built tough and looks great. Yesterday we had rain all day and when I got gome from work I checked out the inside. Not flooded but more leaks then I'd like. As mentioned in previous posts, I had to trim the gasket for the auto tailgate to work. No leaks there. Main leaks I'm concerned with are the slide window in the side doors seems to leak. I found water droplets on some of the bolts for the vent plate. However the filter for dust was dry. Lastly, the seam between the front panel and the 3 roof panels leaks. The roof panel seams and rear panel seam all are good. My thinking is loosen the vent bills and add some silicone around them to seal. As for the front panel leak, bead of silicone across the top of the seam to seal? I use rtv sealant often for refrigerator repairs at work. Not sure how this would hold up to heat and outdoor elements though. Any recommendations on silicone that is black so it blends in better and will be durable? Any recommendations on the slide window leaks? Overall I really like this cap and just wanna work the small leaks out. 20250308_115754.jpg

I see RSI has two widths for load bars. Is it the 55” or 48”. Taking delivery soon and trying to get load bars soon.

Anyone have weird gasket overlap with the 3 piece roof?
I just got an evo sport 5.5 ft bed and the center roof panel has gaskets on the sides that also wrap around the ends.
The smaller side roof panels have gaskets at the sides that mate with the center panel but these are only at the ends of the panel and also wrap around the corners. This looks like it will create a gap even when everything is tightened down.

Also none of the images or videos look the way this does.

    Thanks!

As long as the gaskets don't end at a connector it will be fine.

    Great!
Thanks. None of the instructions or videos show no gasket on those parts.

I had my smartcap installed by GTFOverland. I was in a hurry and left after install but the rear camera glass was just touching, causing a creaking noise. When I had time, I loosened the clamps and shifted it away by maybe a cm or two and now it’s good. I tried following the instructions to fasten the clamps to 9lbs per feet but my torque wrench isn’t clicking and keeps spinning. Picked up another and the same. Anyone have a picture? How far out is the bolt protruding? Flush? Dont feel like driving back to the shop and don’t feel like picking up a digital gauge.

I finally took some photos during a steady buy not heavy of a rain. I'm less then thrilled with the amount of leaking. The seams of the panels are all dry. About half of the bolts in the vent have wayer droplets dripping. No sign of water lraking through the vent itself. Side slide windows both leak a small amount. Truthfully this is the least concerning leak. My main concern is the front panel. I am seeing water leaking between the window frame and front panel frame. As the pictures show, the top of the window frame has water pooled. The area I live in has lots of pollen right now and tou can see all the yellow pollen in the pictures. Clearly not an install issue since the panel seems are not leaking. Any thoughts on a remedy? Is this a legit warranty issue? I would honestly prefer to take care of it myself if it's a quick fix.

Thanks for the response. I filed a warranty claim and then replied to confirmation email with full description and photos. It will be interesting to see what they say. Have you seen leaks like this before?

I feel you may be in the full cap replacement category. However we have used silicone at the top of the glass where it meets the metal frame. The same with the vent bolts a little silicone under the bolt heads.

Is the silicone a good long term solution considering it is leaking from new? I don't really wanna install another cap however I don't wanna have to reapply silicone every so often. I am anxious to hear back from them

Depending on the quality of the silicone you use you should not have to reapply

One of my latches popped yesterday and I was unable to get the thing to latch. I sent an email to RSI NA last night and within an hour I got a reply. They are sending me 6 old style latches with the covers too. I take back every bad thing I have said about RSI lol - Also mentioned in email that the redesigned latches will be available in 6 to 8 months and they will then send those out to me when available. That's probably what RSI said 6 to 8 months ago:rofl::rofl:

How do you guys secure the rear hatch when you can't close it due to an oversized load?

I tried a bungy for one short, couple mile trip, but it didn't work well.

    Whatcha got?

    thanks
