Installed Dirty Deeds exhaust about 2.5 months ago. I initially did have the common "whistle" noise before and after installing it but it didn't really bother me as much. After a while it started getting annoying trying to hear my exhaust but the whistle noise is all you get. So I decided to remove the K&N Filter and swap it for the normal "OEM" paper one. It helped reduce the noise a little, but wasn't enough so I then swapped the Throttle gasket to (without the mesh version). Now the whistle noise is almost gone but there is still some "air" noise at low rpm that messes up with my exhaust sound.

Did you guys ever get rid of the whistle noise forever? I also did have water condensation dripping down between the muffler and exhaust pipe joint. Replaced the gasket and tighten it. Not sure if I should replace the clamp now since I messed with it so many times. I also want to point out that I never replaced the front 2 flange gaskets. Not sure if that may solve the last bit of exhaust air or whistle noise. BTW if anyone needs a "brand new resonator" i got one. Never installed mines and probably won't need it.

Hmmm... when I swapped the throttle gasket to remove the screen, that eliminated the whistle/noise I was getting.

Have you checked your air box or intake tube (part from airbox to engine) to make sure everything is seated and there are no cracks?

I really don't know what it could be but I'd assume it's more engine bay then from the exhaust.

I highly doubt the leak after the muffler will do anything. If the small gaskets in front of the muffler are leaking you will hear a little bit there. Mine were toast when i installed my exhaust i have run my truck for 4 years without the expensive gasket after the muffler

Might have to swap them just in case, but if that doesn't solve the issue it might be from the Airbox. Thanks

I just was looking up ways to find exhaust leaks. I need to do it on my right bank. Seal a leaf blower onto the tailpipe to charge the pipe, spray soapy water anywhere a leak may be

You can use a shop vac on reverse also to find them.

Smoke machine can work wonders for finding leaks.

Put the gasket with the mesh back in, just cut the tabs for the mesh off.

Yep agree with this. Really gotta make sure the gasket stays seated while putting everything back together also.

Update on the issue! I ordered both front gaskets and removed the old 2 rusty ones. Problem fixed! Now I can hear the exhaust rumble at low RPM. As I was unbolting the flange mount bolts I noticed they were very loose and I was able to remove them with my hand. Not sure how they got loose probably from the heat as I could have sworn I torqued them tight.

Honestly I didn't need to replace the front gaskets and just tighten the bolts and that could have fixed the issue but since I already had the new gaskets on hand I just installed them regardless. Old ones were toasted!

Now the question sits should I install my K&N filter back? Do you guys recommend it? Does it help or increase hp or torque as they mention? Give me your opinions?

Got it! Yeah I noticed mine had small particles when I removed it. I'm assuming the oil attracts more dust than just the regular paper filter.

Are you still running the K&N or you removed it?
