I haven’t had a build thread here, I started one on the taco side when I switched over, then I let it sit mostly undriven and unmolested for a long while. After dealing with some things I’m getting back to having fun my way and I’m going to log it here.

I found an anytime backup camera I bought for the 4Runner I never installed and it worked here, so it went in. Also installe Meso 4x4 chrome delete, AJT climate ring chrome delete, and a Rago dash plate today. Still have 6 week to go for the bumper,so at least 10 weeks for a lift, but camp rig is starting to take shape.

Got the center section of a platinum grill sanded and base coated, just need to finish it up and get the hood bulge in. After that the only chrome on the exterior will be the back bumper, waiting to complete everything to see if I want black or white covers.
    IMG_0610.jpg

Also got a drawer toolbox mounted in the bed for camp essentials. I’ve had this box forever but it wouldn’t fit under the cover on the Tacoma, so it got a little paint and put to work now.

Wired up a stinger switch hub and some blue sea goodies. The switch hub will handle switching and protection for four circuits, the fuse panel will be for constant loads, everything mounted on a TT plate.

Gotta love Marketplace, scored a set of MR304’s for $450 this morning. Eibach 2.0s are on the shelf, so just need tires and I’ll be almost ready, depending on what else I decide on.

All the parts are in for the suspension. Tires are mounted, hoping to get it all installed next weekend. Did get some decal work done to make the truck and trailer match.

Managed to get the suspension mostly done today. I was gonna run the RAS at a softer setting and use Coachbuilder shackles, but my shackles are seized on. So cranked the RAS to go with the Eibach 2.0s and the SPC’s. I can officially say Tundra’s are easier than Tacos lol. Probably gonna take the fronts up another half inch or so, but I’m liking it.

July 9, 2023 - My last copied post from Tacomaworld. No work was done in the time from then to now, crying shame but I’m fixing it.

All aligned and rolling true. Really happy with the results.

I ordered a Dasaita Android 13 head unit and it should be in soon, so I’ll be working on that and whatever else catches my attention.

In preparation for the head unit, I decided to pull the factory unit and finally wire in the USB’s on the Rago dash plate, along the way I decided to finally start de-silvering the dash so I pulled it and started sanding. Waiting on SEM paint to show up. I’ll do the same for the door trim when I pull the panels to replace the speakers and install sound deadening.
    IMG_0623.jpg

I still have some sanding to do but I’ve got to go back to work so it will have to wait.

Curious on your experience with this. i have a 5 year old HU that is buggy and glitchy i wanna replace. was thinking sony or alpine but they have so many limitations compared to Dasaita.

can you link the one you purchased?

I ordered it direct from this link, I found a coupon code with a little quick Google-fu that dropped the price below the Amazon price. I have always run name brand units too, so it’s a test for me too, but the fitment was too much to pass up for a factory look with wireless CarPlay. I’ll be testing it as a factory replacement as soon as it gets here, then using the RCA outputs on an aftermarket amp as I collect parts for a complete makeover.

I’m thinking about doing the 13.3” one. I’m already use to a floating screen. But i haven’t found many photos of it installed in gen 2.5

All of the floating screens I have seen have been the big brands. Trailgrid has a bunch of videos with Sony’s and Alpine’s, but I haven’t seen the Dasaita version yet either.

Dasaita head unit is installed, and the painted dash as well. I may end up ordering an SR unit but the SEM doesn’t look terrible. I’m really happy with the fitment of the deck, and the wireless CarPlay seems to work well.

I guess I can take the Ram ball off of the right side since there won’t be much reason to have my iPad there anymore.

Does your factory USB port work? Which one did you hook up to the unit? I used Phone Link But it doesn't connect. Wireless car play works fine.

I forgot to check that before I put everything back together, so it may wait until my amp and RCA’s come in to get addressed. I was hoping it was a setting in the unit but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

There is an adapter crutchfield has that supposedly adapts to the USB port. Im trying to figure that out and stock GPS antenna. But I might just use the Dasaita GPS antenna in the middle tweeter location.

I opted for theirs, and since I did the enfig audio mic in the stock location I already had the passenger A pillar off and mounted it here, works and tracks well. IMG_5335.jpg

Ignore the broken windshield, until the construction is done on my road home I’m not replacing it

Washed, spot compounded, polished, waxed, and detailed inside today. All was necessary after removing 8 year old badges.
