Hopefully this is the appropriate place to post and ask a question, but I would like to know if anyone has shipped or has a recommendation for shipping a camper top. We all know how hard it is to find the right used top and often if and when we do, it is way across country. Thank you in advanced.

The cost these days for that would be way too much. At that point you should buy new. Add to the fact that the container would have to be custom built to prevent damage during shipping. A person would need a forklift to move it.

You could find someone with the same truck and find someone that is going your direction. Other than that way way too much money. If you are willing to go thru all that then you should go buy a new one and they will even install it for you.

yeah I was getting $1,100 estimates without any real info already. I think I will get into the shipping business based off of what I am seeing in my search and now the top is sold already.

The wages for a driver, and the gas, and other costs to operate a truck, to get a single fairly small item across country for $1100, doesn't seem surprising at all. You could always pay yourself to transport it. How much do you think it would costy you in gas?

I would just hate to drive halfway across the country just to find out someone else got there 1st or it was bought it locally. I do wonder if there is a "hold" service option when I do find one that will most likely be far away? I don't mind paying but I would need some guarantee somehow that the seller or scammer wouldn't just take off. Its my understanding that even if would pay for a new one that option isn't available (no shells currently being made to fit 1st gen tundra dimensions?)
