    Anyone have a ballpark?

I was passing an 18 wheeler with a frac sand box on it. It came sideways from one of the wheels. Sounded like a fricking gunshot. The window tint saved me from having shattered glass all over the inside. (Yes officer, that limo tint is for safety)

Wow!!!!! I am going to run by the dealer in the morning to check. I looked at my insurance and I can file it on my comprehensive. I have my policy set at $50 for comprehensive. My collision deductible is $500, but this is part of my comprehensive coverage. My agent had me set it there, basically, for windshield coverage. She gave me good advice and it doesn't add much to the policy having it that low if only on the comprehensive side..

Consider paying the extra for the sound deadening glass from the Platinum. Then some day you can change the other side as well. I don’t remember the diff in cost but it was negligible.

Costed me $700ish CAD to get the rear passenger window on my double cab replaced after someone smashed it. Yours looks like a crew cab though, so will be a bit more then that.

I absolutely hate those damn frac sand trucks!!!! There are hundreds of them on the road around here at all times. Drive like fucking maniacs with sand blowing everywhere from those open-top boxes. Stupid people just hang out cruising behind them letting their cars get sandblasted. I punch it and get on past them as quickly as possible and if not, I hang back very far until I can.

I thought only the Capstone came with sound deadening side window glass and it was only the front two, did it change in 2025?

once you have the door panel off you just ram that glass in there, the install is very straightforward.

In ‘23 it was said that the Platinum and above had it and no mention of only the front two windows. More research needed here it sounds like.

I have an appointment Tuesday for it to be replaced. They should have the part tomorrow. Right at $700 plus tax. That is absolutely nuts!!!!!!! Then I have to take it and get it tinted on top of the factory tint. I think I am going to call the other Toyota place and get the parts pricing. They are a lot lower on parts and maybe I can beat them down a bit. I would use their service dept except they always want you to leave your truck.

I also finally made it out to the body shop I use. The truck got pummeled a few weeks ago in a hail storm. They are going to be able to PDR some of the dents, but I am going to need a new hood. That was another comprehensive claim with a $50 deductible.

I have a Limited. Your windshield comment got me remembering. My windshield is weird. It has marks where the wiper contacts it. When I go through the carwash and the water is cascading over the windshield the outline of the wipers looks like it is etched in the glass. Just to the right of the A-pillar is a perfect vertical line where the left wiper reaches its limit and starts back the other way.

When the windshield is dry it is all clear. You really can't see anything on the windshield and I have cleaned it real good. But it always shows in the car wash even after scrubbing it. It is like the windshield is etched from the wipers.

Not real worried about it, but I have never had that happen to any of my windshields.

Thx for clarification on the side windows. My ‘16 Taco had the acoustic windshield and so does my Tundra. Nothing on sides tho.

Before they all switched to those boxes, the old tanker style ones kept the sand in a lot better. I was working at Halliburton when they started switching over. Unloading the sand is way easier in those boxes because now they just forklift the box off and reload an empty on it. Before the trucks had to wait in long lines at the well site.

    Yes. Where are you?

I am in Caddo parish. I like Xpress but I moved about 4 years ago and there isn't one close to my house. I have to remember to wash when I am in town. And I think it is up to $30/month also. They have been working on a new car wash near me for a looooong time but it isn't an Xpress. I hope it is close to opening. It will be nice when I can go use the vacuums when I am in my cleaning moods. I'm usually seeing customers when I am in town and hate to stop and vacuum. Especially in summer. You have to keep the A/C running and you still get sweaty.

I was in Bossier but got tired of the trains. And I am getting to the point I don't want a good portion of the rest of my life dealing with Airline Dr and Benton Rd. It is not good for my sanity. So I moved out to the semi-county up near meth city in north Shreveport. But I am closer to Shreveport (violence capital of the south) than I am to meth city. (Blanchard)

I thought it did. Mine had a sticker somewhere that said it did and I had to have a windshield guy inject the glue into a windshield ding when my truck was only two weeks old. He showed me spider leg cracks in 4 layers of glass and he could only get the glue 2 layers down. Luckily it’s in a low corner and not in line of sight. Found this too - (Google search)
    • Tundra Trims:
The 2023 Tundra Limited, and trims above it like the 1794 and Capstone, are known to feature acoustic glass in the windshield.
