What's a good way to verify a genuine TRD Pro wheel from a replica? And if it's a replica: does it matter? I've seen threads that mentioned the BBS - Forged etching as an indicator of OEM, but isn't that easily replicated?

I found these on FB Marketplace for $1500. I need wheels, but am ultimately very weary of anything on FB Marketplace (call me criminal minded). Any opinions on if these are OEM or replicas?

Those look pretty good at a distance. They have the factory Michelins on them in the correct size, has the BBS Forged and the PRO stampings. Check the back for the rest of the markings and maybe weigh them. Knockoffs are heavier

That’s a pretty decent price for them.

If they are counterfeit they are a quality counterfeit.

Clearance pockets on the hub side should have cast-in markings "BBS Japan" and a Toyota "PTxxx-xxxxx" part number.
Although I suppose those could be duplicated on a knockoff as well.

They look the part. Just weigh them. Can’t fake that part.

There are Pro and non-Pro versions of these wheels. But the white lettering is odd for any of them.

That is just the center cap, plus in your 3rd pic you can see it was red and has faded. If they all look like that, I bet the owner was trying for white letters since the ring is still nice and red. But you can replace all 4 center caps for around 100 during a toyota parts sale. I would not worry about that at all.

Ah, good catch on the fading. You’re 100% right. Thanks.

I recently posted an inquiry in the Pro thread about BBS wheels I too came across on FB and the gents over there were kind enough to post pictures of their own Pro BBS wheels for me and told me what to look for on the backside. This should help you..
    Let’s see your TRD Pro

Read the responses after my inquiry

Is $1500 a good price for these wheels?

Depending on condition, yes. Those look pretty used and have paint fade on them.
