I had just backed out of my driveway, paused for a second, then shifted directly from R to D.

The truck lurched forward and then nothing. It's almost like I had dropped the clutch while holding the brake at idle. Just a thud and it was silent.

It restated just fine and I was able to go run it at highway speeds without and issue.

Any thoughts? I cannot replicate it.

Similar thing happened on my grand Cherokee after getting the timing chain cover gasket replaced. Turned out the dealer broke the thermostat, but with your truck being brand new, maybe it’s just a loose connector somewhere. Did you scan for any codes?

I've had mine almost stall if I immediately put it in drive after I start it and just tap or blip the throttle. The rpms would drop well below idle then come back up to party.

Had to bring it as is to dealer, so they read the codes themselves and add it to your case.

Looking at the codes, it is either voltage drop and blocks rebooting, or CAN-bus interruption that is caused by failing block.

If Denso didn't drop the ball, their ECU will keep the engine running until it is physically impossible. I did all kind of crap to CAN-bus in one of my cars, engine ECU lost everyone and sat in isolation, yet the engine was running. In limp mode, yes, but running.

I had started the engine with the grill removed as I was installing the transmission cooler to test for leaks. I got all kinds of malfunction indicators and offline warnings at that time. The grill houses the parking sensors, radar, radiator louvers, and fog lights. Plenty to throw codes.

I have cleared the codes to start clean slate to see what happens.

I have driven the truck half a dozen times with 50-60 miles since it stalled with no hint of an issue. Ill retrieve codes after a few weeks go by and I will leave them for the dealer to read this time, if any.

It’s designed to do that to be fail operational To prevent the vehicle from being disabled in the highway. But once you shut it off that way, it will likely refuse to start

I saw a mechanic diag a newer Accord no start issue. Turned out that a failed LED headlight module wouldn't let the vehicle start. I dont know who's bright idea it was to run every single thing through a ECM and if just 1 thing fails, it takes the whole network down.

In limp mode you are lucky if you can get up to 10 MPH, in like two minutes. Hills are barred, simply no power to climb them. You still can get out of the way and have some heat in the cabin.

It's been a few days with plenty of drive cycles.

    No issues so far.

Ill retrieve codes in the next few days.
