Mulled on this a bit overnight, and thinking back to the number of artists on the Tommy Boy label sampled the hell out of this single song is nuts. I swear this one song from 1977 is probably the basis for all bass/booty/freestyle that came out of the SE USA.

If you ever liked Afrika Bambaataa / Soulsonic Force, you'll recognize both the intro to this song and the 1m33s mark I'm tagging the video to start at. If you ever listened to Freestyle, you've probably heard it in some variation, faster or slower, several times.

PHM’s schtick got old sometimes. But he was a solid contributor. Just went off the rails occasionally for seemingly little to no reason. It takes all kinds. I don’t have to like, agree with, or prefer them all, but I enjoy the variety.

 

Good contributor, great sense of humor. Variety is the spice of life, and I'd rather have a bag of mixed bar nuts than plain, unsalted peanuts all day/any day.

Even if the dude talks ill of me, I still appreciate him. Don't gotta agree with someone to understand and acknowledge their strengths and value.

 

PHM’s thread was a huge inspiration for my refresh thread. If that wasn’t obvious lol.

Disagreeing is not the same as being an asshole. Most of us can disagree at times without being a dick. Anytime we had drama here it was almost always because he went off on someone. Virtually none since he left.

Hell yeaaaa. Had an auto prerunner xtra cab then a 4 dr 4x4. They're what made me want a tundra, more cab room

That or remnants of a scalp. The truck definitely needs more feathers in its theme. I only say this because i came close to running over a bald eagle a few weeks ago...then a different bald eagle two days ago (there's quite a few out in my area). I had to anchor the brakes pretty hard as not to make a headdress out of it. It would have taken quite a bit of explaining to the feds if that happened.

 

I didn't realize it was Kraftwerk! All i knew was that it sounded exactly like early german electronic with a hint of industrial mixed in. My first thought was Front 242, but i knew it wasn't them.

Going to the Tundra for more cab room was my motivation too, plus V8!
And the transition was seamless for me. The Tundra is just a 'roided Taco. I felt like I was one with the tundra, just like my tacos, on the test drive, and I knew it was the right choice.
