Did the tone change on the spd exhaust now with the headers? Also catless?

Yes at idle little louder but all over much louder. Boost also ramps much quicker it seems. I have the catted version which threw some cat codes that I’ll get some o2 defoulers for.

Damn I thought about going catless when I get headers. That’d be rowdy.

    Congrats @reywcms

Which fluid did you end up using in the transmission?

Nice going!! It is loud without cats and headers! Just got some high flow mufflers in. Will see how it is. Will still be loud at WOT.
I'm switching out the DEX3 and going with AISIN WS.

When it's below 110 deg F my 3-4 shift is confused and hard shift into 6th. I believe it's my transmission as others use DEX3 without issues. The solenoids are good and it's the only thing I can think of. Above 110F it shifts fine1-5 and under no load shift to 6th is a clunk, above 2k rpm its good. Cold mornings I just put it in s3 until temp come up and it's good. Just ruling it out.
I still gotta make it down your way!

Yessir! I’ll be heading out on my run April 5 and back around the 13th. For a few weeks then back out for work. But let me know we can coordinate.

If thicker fluid is to be run, Toyota T-IV will fit the bill. All available info points to the additive pack being the same as the thinner WS fluid. Idemitsu TLS looks reasonably stout and is an equal, or may exceed T-IV, and if a full synthetic is desired, Redline D4 is also very close in the add pack department. The key in making a completely successful transition could possibly lie in tuning the ECU. Viscosity and base oil type certainly change how clutch packs engage. Not my wheelhouse, but maybe adjusting the engagement so the ECU is shifting at a speed and pressure that is equivalent to 15 - 20F degrees hotter could be a good start.

This should come as no surprise, but hours of reading point to WS Fluid having a main failure point in protecting against solenoid and valve body wear.

Thanks. I did adjust some but didn't want to deviate too much. I did try some T IV back in 2015 that I had from an older ride. Seemed fine but think I switched out when I got WS.
Idemitsu is run in my highlander and ran it in the ab60 for a year. Valve body and solenoid wear is evident in a few other threads. The AISIN afw+ looks good but not available in the US. Appreciate the info on the additive packs.

Truck feels awesome and rowdy. From the butt dyno powers up a bit I’ll know more once we do a full pull and see what we lost in boost psi. For reference we were seeing 10.3 psi on the previous setup.

New trans is smooth as butter as well. Zero issues there.

I love the sound with the long tubes and cats. If you are not in boost it's not bad at all. When you're wot it sounds absolutely evil. I will say if I towed more I would quiet it down a bit. My father passed away last month and I had to tow his Dodge Ram back from Pennsylvania to Connecticut. I'd think it was about 8k lbs loaded and going up some of the super steep grades in NY when it was in boost it was insanely loud. However it pulled that 8k like a champ. A guy in a dually towing two cars on the back gave me a thumbs up with a big smile on his face going up a hill in CT while I was going 80 mph. Yes I know that's too fast to be towing a trailer but most of the trip I was doing about 60-65 but just was having fun for a moment.

After we finally get these valve bodies, it really is time for a limited slip. One wheel peels are lame!

AFW+ is pretty much the same as T-IV and Idemitsu TLS… specs and base oils for all three are very close… with with the Idemitsu being a little stronger on the esters. Great info https://www.oil-club.ru/forum/topic/18441-atf-svezhie/

Will have to post a vid and compare, I think the only difference we have is exhaust. You have TRD, I have a modded SW.

It’s not much better with the LSD, you just end up going sideways in addition to the wheel spin. It is more fun though! Definitely better driving in the rain with the LSD too.

These trucks love gears. Running 32’s with 5.29s my truck couldn’t have been happier. It moved so effortlessly. Engine load dropped 20%.

I personally think 5.29 and this power is too much. To me a 4.88 is more appropriate.
