Isn't it cheaper to buy one from Amazon for $15????

Does Amazon have actual carista dongles? Or does a cheapo one work with the carista app?

I have a cheapo that I've used for 10ish years for Torque, OBD Fusion and now Car Scanner for the 2025.

Everytime I get a new tow vehicle, I need a new app to get trans temp.

I'd love to use it with carista to kill the seatbelt warning.

Cheapo ones which would work perfectly with carista for whole long 10 minutes you are going to use it.
Btw, one of those cheapo units sits in my 4runner obd without any problems for 3 years paired with a free app showing me all I need. 100% happy

I left mine in my 2012 without driving it for 3 weeks and it killed the battery. It's possible that it was fluke or something else drew the battery down.

That said, I'm proud of the unit I only paid $12 or so for 10 years ago.

Torque and OBD Fusion were paid. So far, Car Scanner free has been great for me.

I never had to leave my car for more than 1 week. One week was not a problem.
Yes, I think any OBD dingy with WiFi would drain the battery.

But anyways, back to the topic, this El Cheapo for $15 would serve well and in case one wants to change setting, he is not in mercy of a stranger from Tundras.com.
    Cheap convenience ;)

Had my cheap Amazon Veepeak dongle for almost 5 years and no problems. Got it for the Ram I had but used it with Carista to change settings on my Taco and will do the same with the Tundra I'm getting this week.

The cheap Amazon dongle worked with carista last night. I got my settings done

I didn't work for disabling the "come home lights" which I think are are the headlights after the truck is parked. Default was 30 seconds.

Does this not void the warranty or anything? I would love to get rid of the seatbelt alarm. I asked the dealer to do it and they said absolutely not,.

No. Dealer would not do it for liability reasons.

Not at all. Many dealers will shut it off for you.
