Meso Customs Chrome Delete

I did the @Meso Customs interior chrome delete today. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and how easy it was to do. I actually wasn't planning on doing the steering wheel parts, but judging by how this turned out I probably will. Super clean look, I think.

 

Well worth it.

 

What technique did you use to remove the small chrome piece that goes around the shifter? It looks like there are six plastic welds/knobs holding it on.

 

I used a Dremel and bored it out enough to where it popped off. I didn't have to bore out all six plastic welds before it popped off, so I used the remaining posts as guides. I put some JB Weld to secure the piece in place. That was the only "challenging" part; the rest was a breeze.

 

Thanks. I saw those little chrome rings on the black plastic welds and didn't know if those were holding it in place. Since you said you didn't need to remove all six welds I'll probably go with cutting through every other one to use the others as guides like you mentioned.

 

Looks great! I did the same in mine. Still need to throw the vent rings on though.

 

Are you going with the Meso ones or the stick ons from AJT? I'd love to do the full replacement ones from Meso but there's no way I'm taking my dash apart

 

It’s the full Meso black out kit I threw in it. Just haven’t had time to take the dash apart to install.

 

Good luck, man. I wish I had the confidence to do that, but I don't see myself taking my dash apart.

 

It's actual pretty easy. Just look for a YT how to.

 

Good job! If you pop the shifter trim off, you can hit the glossy plastic around the shifter with satin clear spray paint. Thin coats! But it will match the rest of surrounding components. It's very popular with the blackout kits.

 

Oh, I've watched the videos...I think you and I may have different definitions of "pretty easy" lol

 

Just a heads up, it pretty much takes this to get the silver radio surround out.

Don't forget to put some black heat shrink tubing on the shifter shaft for a complete chrome delete...

Not perfect, but better than all chrome and smis a 1 beer job for all of the rings.
