The recent thread on side window deflectors got me looking through Weathertech's website. I see they also offer a stone & bug deflector. This got me thinking, I'd like to get one before my next road trip. Does anyone have any experience with the Weathertech stone/bug deflector? Or can you recommend another brand? I'm looking for sturdy and easy to install.

AVS is my goto for hood deflectors. No screw in hardware required. Double stick pads that mount under the hood is sufficient and I’ve owned mine for 15 years+.

Man, the previous owner of my truck had a Deflectashield or similar brand on my that used pinch-based hardware. When I pulled it, I found the paint was eaten down to the primer where the shield had been rubbing against the hood. Above the driver's side headlight was the worst. One of them was almost ¾" wide and an inch tall. Acid-etched with Naval Jelly and did a piss-poor job of filling it in. I need to get back around to cleaning this up. I'll never install another one. Aside from the fact they look goofy on white trucks, most brands I've seen.

Yep. Definitely the downside to a lot of them on the market and the reason people need to do their homework into the installation of the one they’re interested in buying.

The upside is they do a great job at minimizing the highway rock chips in the hood. Got mine when the clearcoat wore thin enough rocks started chipping the paint off. No regrets and would do it again unless I chose the 3M clear shield stuff. I may at least do that for the first 1 foot area of the roof above the windshield.

I've been running an AVS since 2/17 and have removed it 2x for grill painting and also hood painting. Still in great shape after all of these years. Would buy again.

I have the Weathertech one. I've had it for about two years. It feels like good quality. No complaints.

AVS on my Tundra. I'm kinda "meh" on the chrome coating but it matches the grill. Seems good-to-go.

I have paint chips on up the hood, no idea if those were there before the hood protector was put on or not.

Most likely. Mine were. My hood was trash.

"EEK Factor" 100! :eek2: :bananadead:

WHOA! My hood is not so bad. Had it been so bad I'd have had some reservations about the buy.

Did you get a new hood or paint that?

I see what you did there. Is it a good grill guard? For deer? Ad not marked for '06.

I saw on this forum, some nearly obscure link, for a replacement front bumper and grill guard. Substantial along with the price. The deer hit last year to my Canyon TOTALLY changed my opinion on grill guards.

The general consensus here is that no grill guard is a good grill guard. Just do a forum search for the term “damage multiplier”. I bought it because I like it. It’ll push gentle brush, but not deer or steer.

    I looked into the the one that @abcinv has . . . i believe it's made by 'Form Fit' . . .

    https://focusauto.com/product/toyota-tundra-2004-2006/

    To purchase I got referred to . . . https://www.parttera.com/detail/593/HD20P01/

Once you plug in make/model/year . . . it appears it's by special order only.

Last year I tried ordering one, and it kept kicking me out of the system . . . I tried calling their customer service, and the gal tried to help, but I was never able to place an order.

I threw in the towel as things weren't going smoothly, and I didn't want to pay up front for something that seemed so elusive.

I'd still like to order one if anyone has a solid lead . . . I believe Form Fit is in Canada.

    Here's another link . . . https://formfithoodprotectors.com/product/toyota-tundra-2000-2006/

I've been debating one of these since I got the truck. It would cover 90% of the chips that are on the hood but I'm not 100% on the look.

I agree, a 1st Gen Tundra Bug Deflector would look odd on your 24 Sequoia :boink:

May want to give them a call prior to ordering. If you do, report back how many they have for any other members interested.
