My first lift, 3.5”. My wife is about 5’6” and the extra step up is a little difficult. Don’t bother me @ 6’1”!
But I ain’t rocking the boat with mama!

What running boards do you use after a lift?

    Curious minds wanna kno!

I have one of the OEM styles which I like, suprisingly. They definitely help me and others enter and exit the cab. If you are going to be doing serious offroading, I would suggest getting legitimate sliders for the protection. If not, I would suggest including the wife in the selection process so you end up with her happy. There is another poster on this board who is on his third set because his wife has not liked the previous two.

If leaving the wife at home makes things better, you need a new wife.

AMP Research power steps was what I chose, and have been very happy with them.

You may be happy with them but myself and others have had issues with motors burning out. This is especially a risk if you live where snow and ice can build up and prevent the steps from working properly if at all.

Seems like an unnecessary addition of complexity and failure points.

Sorry to hear you and others have had issues. I live in an area that averages 100+" of snow annually, and haven't had any issues. I hope I am not jinx'ing myself, now that I am saying this :)

I had another one… if she was around I’d make her a Monster truck speed bump!

I was gonna ask about the automatic running boards. My DIL has them OEM on her F-150 for last six years with no issues. But we do get crap ice and snow here in KC, plus the sand, salt and chems the DOT puts down.

IMG_6677.jpg It’s YOUR truck, YOU get what YOU want. As long as it’s ok with your wife. :p RB 20 slims are what I have. They’re nice if you don’t mind the brackets hanging down a little. I don’t do any rock crawling, so they work for me.

It’s tough in this market, negative equity from low trade in value and out of warranty! Whines alot when you turn it on too.

But in all seriousness I really like the bolt on rock sliders that have a bit of a step to them. Several fabrication companies make them, nice hybrid of functionality (offroading, door dings, side impact) and a step for the verticality challenged out there. (Some examples being SDHQ, RCI, CBI, C4 etc).

I spoke with my attorney about this, his fee and outcome for a contested divorce is simply ridiculous!
He advises me not to heed some of your alls suggestions. However, he did imply that accidental deaths do happen frequently while off-roading… especially wives for some reason.
However, my fine wife just shoe’d my Tundra with four brand spanking new Black Rino 17” Armory wheels and 35” Nexxen ATX tires… I would just hate for her to go so soon.

I live in Wisconsin and have had zero issues with mine. Two things to note: buy the ones with dual motors. They lift each step from both ends at the same time. Also, lube the linkage at least once annually. Mine have been on over 6 years and work flawlessly.
