Hello all,

New member here. Wanted to drop by and say hi to everyone. Hope all is well?

This my 2021 Tundra SR5, on Toyo AT 37x13.5 r17.. 3" inch front, 2" rear, with Bilstein B8 rear suspension and all stock front suspension.

 

Guys,
I just called a very reputable shop in SoCal and was told that 37s will NOT fit with BMC, 3”/1” Bilstein 6112/5112 (1” shackle in rear) and SPC UCA’s and will need a long travel suspension like Kings/Fox. All 125 pages in this thread says otherwise, I’m confused ‍

Damn! I forgot to ask any shops before I just went for it. Looks like I will have to go take off my 37s now if they don't fit

 

I was planning on having this shop do my suspension install….and I was very surprised. They also said that they will not mount 37s on Tundra. Hmm..

 

One of the well known. I don’t want to mention the name. They do install lots of 35s tho.

Honestly I can't say I blame them because "they fit" but they don't "fit". Chances are they've had people complain about rubbing and the typical lift manufacturer doesn't recommend larger than 35" so they're playing it safe.

Now with your 125 pages worth of reading and knowledge you can determine your path based on examples of 37" with various levels of lift, wheels and modifications.

My last Tundra had 1.8" of lift in the front and no lift in the rear on Icon Billet UCAs and I "fit" 37" tires. But they fit after cutting and modification to fit. Regardless of the amount of lift when the suspension compresses the truck essentially doesn't have a lift, so if you plan to use your truck plan to accommodate for the tire size and run with wheels that will give you the best opportunity not to rub (ie: ~+25mm offset).

 

So many people miss this concept, it's insane. Major props for spreading the good word of true clearance

 

Thank you for the info. The shop did mention that they had lots of “comebacks” with people complaining about rubbing so they didn’t want to deal with it. Like you mentioned, the juice is not worth the squeeze for them installing 37s.
Yes I’ve read this thread multiple times and decided to go with +35 offset for better fitment.

I had originally wanted to go with the 39s, but backed off from that plan after hearing from people having drivetrain components breaking on them due to them being larger and heavier.

Interestingly enough, I found that the 39x12.5r17 tires at least cost more than the 39x13.5r17 on the many different brands across the board and decided to pull the trigger on 13.5s instead, saving a little over $200. I don't know if this is such the case with the 35s vs 37s? I guess demand and supply would dictate their prices?

Most recently, I finally had my Katzkin leather seats cover with heater installed, purchased them since last year never ever being able to find time. And with some new LED AlphaRex MK2 Nova and Baja fog lamps installed to match.

Next on my list would be the front suspension, getting this truck ready for Nevada where I would finally reside optimistically. California has gotten to expensive for me and the state's politics have become banana, it's enough for me.

I am in the North Cal if you ever need any assistance and you're more than welcome to give me a buzz? Everything done my on truck was done in house by the shop I own and run, except for the leather seat installed.

Next on my chopping block is that white 2020 TRD Pro you see next to my truck on my previous post, it's getting the same treatment. The owner of this truck has been contemplating on putting a Magnum TVS2650 supercharger too, he has some deep pockets. And down the list is a 2024 Platinum come the next few months.

Need some help selecting UCAs.

Truck has a 6 or 7 inch Pro Comp lift on 20x10, -19 wheels. I'll be swapping the spacers for Rough Country Vertex coilovers. I was planning to do SPC UCAs but my installer has concerns due to recent quality issues.

What other UCA options should I be looking at? JBAs seem like the next obvious choice.

Once these are upgraded it's time for BMC and 37s!

 

I have a BDS 7” & though that particular lift worked fine with OEM UCA’s, I eventually swapped them out for BDS‘s UCA’s & they’ve been fine.

 

I'm going to go the JBA route based on feedback.

Next question: anyone running Mickey Thompson baja legend EXPs in 37"? 69 lbs per tire sounds too good to be true.

BMC and bumper trim. After a proper alignment we have no rubbing around town and out for some medium off road driving.

Just ordered DRT relocation and Icon Vector wheels. Now I have to decide what tires to run. What's the present tire guys are using? Pretty much a pavement warrior just like the look of aggressive tires. Minimum noise good in rain and snow. Yes lot to ask lol

I went with nitto ridge grapplers which I don't mind. I liked my mickey Thompson Baja boss a/t's more since they had more sipes since it was A/T and not hybrid. If I bought new tires today I'd go Toyo Open Country A/T III since I'm mostly highway now or falken wild peaks a/t4w (I had the a/t3w when they first came out and loved those) . It's a toss up lol everyone has a different opinion. i.e. some say Ridge Grapplers are great in snow and others say awful.

The DRT relocation kit is awesome, you'll be glad you got it.

 

So im leaning towards the MT Baja AT seems like nobody really has negative comments about them. I run Peaks at3 on my highlander and some reason they are pretty loud. Not sure if it's because of the wear on them or what, but they are amazing in the rain and snow.
