We just got back from Solitude Utah. I have a place there since 2009. Lots of powder over Christmas and New Years.

    My favorite place.
We went to a very small place called Massanutten on Tues. It was fun and close.

Put on some skis (as opposed to a snowboard) for the first time in 30 years. Just like riding a bike. Been having a blast doing both this season. Just a few pics from various spots: local hill (Dry Hill Ski Area), Titus Mountain (Malone, NY), McCauley Mountain (Old Forge, NY):

You definitely hit the highlights. Didn’t miss much in Saratoga. Wasn’t enough snow yet while you were here. It’s pretty low elevation

My only disappointment was not being able to meet up with you while I was there! Work gets in the way of everything, doesn't it?!?

You got that right. Back in the day here I’d get 75 to 80 days on the hill. I’m very lucky I can sneak out here and there for a few hours plus most weekends. Glad you had a good time. Beautiful place to visit in the summer as well.

Glad to see the East Coast get snow. I grew up skiing there and we always had plenty.

First day at Winter Park. Hard packed snow, but we still had fun. The top of the mountain is a few hundred yards higher than the tree line, so the views are pretty amazing. Pics later.

Winter Park was pretty good skiing, even without fresh snow. Everything started off hardpacked until midday, then there was just enough powder to make groomed and light mogul runs fun. Deep moguls are only fun to me if there is 4-6" of fresh powder on them.

That's my son and daughter on either side of me. They have a grand total of less than 12 weeks of skiing experience, but they are perfectly comfortable on pretty much any black, and even some double blacks if there's snow on them! My daughter is probably the best skier of all of us. I think it's her low center of gravity! I'm a VERY proud dad!

Anyway, we took off 1/2 day on Friday to hike with my wife. We made a 1.5 mile hiking trail into a 3.1 mile hike. Yes, that's the top of a port-a-potty! NOTE: hiking trails do NOT get packed down like ski runs, and if you step in the wrong place, you'll be up to your groin in snow. Ask me how I know!

Circling back to my trip. Just finally got home from Jackson (then went to Savannah, GA for the Saint Patrick's Day Parade so excited to be sleeping in my bed lol).
Oh boy is the mountain tougher than I expected lol. I only have snowboarded Big Sky, MT out west and I LOVED that mountain. I loved all the blue's off of Apres Vous and the Casper Chairs. Bridger Gondola, Thunder, and Marmot Chair trails were really testing my skills more than I liked but was able to get down fine. A lot more veridically steep than I thought the mountain would be which really tired me out. Tuesday and Wednesday were perfect conditions (i like how the mountain closes at 4 pm vs hear in NJ/PA we snowboard until 9 pm with lights). Thursday was a mix of rain and snow. Got to the top of Bridger Gondola and you couldn't see 20 yards in front of you so it was a short day. Never went up to Corbet's Cabin but don't really mind or care about not seeing it. I never went up to the top of Big Sky neither. Overall super fun but not in a rush to go back next year (thinking about doing utah or colorado). Hard to pass up free room and board though and was able to keep all my gear in the Caldera House which was awesome so I feel like i have to visit just for the perks. Plan on going back in the summer to golf and wakeboard though. Mangy Moose was equally great after a day of snowboarding. Hit that place twice. Went into town 2 nights and stopped by Jackson Drug (great burgers), cowboy bar, silver dollar at the wort hotel, and local restaurant & bar. Also took the snowmobiles out near Adams Canyon monday night for the sunset which was amazing as well! My friend i stayed with plays on the Moose hockey team so bummer I left Friday Morning and didn't get to see them play their last 2 games of the season.

9/10 fun for me. I can see why now everyone always raves about it. Has an amazing mountain and great night life.

If anyone wants to coordinate, we're trying to book a trip to Aspen Snowmass next year, skiing 2/1-2/6. It's not set in stone yet, but it would be cool to head down the mountain with some of y'all.

This may be a sucky idea, but if we don't like each others' company, there's a whole mountain to have fun on separately.
