Hey all! I’m in the analysis paralysis stage for sure, lol.

I can get off road take offs WITH red CVs for $400 or can get 5100s for about the same price all around, or, since I don’t off road much, can just get a 1.75in spacer and call it a day, lol

Are the 5100s MUCH better than the stock off road setup with coils?

The coils being single vs dual dampened is where I think I’m stuck as I don’t know how the ride will change. Do I need to change out the Sport coils or will I ever even notice a difference?

If the 5100s aren’t That much better the off road take offs with red cvs, coils, and shocks may be my best bet?

I’ve read and read and read some more and am just not sure. Sorry for asking lol.

I can’t help you with the Bilstein comparison but I did put some OR take-offs on my sport, just coil-overs and rear shocks. Was only $400 for the parts and a couple hours in the driveway with the neighbor so worth it to me. I noticed an upgrade from the stiff sport suspension and also measures a full inch higher in the front.

Did you do CVs too, or just shocks/coils? Looks great!

    Thanks!

    thanks!
Just coils/shocks. Side by side the coils are the same length, just a different spring, it was a pretty simply one for one swap without having to take them apart. Ended up not needing and alignment as well, not saying this would be the case for everyone but with a such a simple swap with coils of the same length, nothing changed.

Wonder if I could do it in my drive way solo. They’re still assembled. CVs I’m not sure about lol.

Similar position. My understanding is the 5100's over the stock 4600's is that the 5100's can set preload for height. Otherwise the ride is the same. They may be a little longer to handle the preload which is better than a spacer which runs the risk of a bottom out/bend.

The 6100's were just released by Bilstein in the past week or two. So, they might be a better ride.

I had a gen 2 tundra with TRD off-road suspension and I put 5100’s on it to level the front. Honestly there wasn’t much difference in ride quality. I know that’s not apples to apples for you but it’s a data point.
I put a TRD pro take off suspension on my TRD sport and the ride is much more plush with the pro suspension, but it does have more noticeable body roll now.

id say if they off-road will level your truck then do it. If not I’d just leave the sport suspension and level the front end.

The only other question I have really is if the springs are a big difference. I.E. if doing the off road assembled coil overs vs just adding the bilsteins 5100s to my sport coils would truly be anything noticeable?

Sounds like it may be negligible but I get a little more height out of the 5100s?

At 2in or less of lift would the red CVs really be beneficial at all over the black ones? I know they aren’t cheap so getting the off road take offs with the CVs is kind of appealing

This is becoming even harder as most lifts excuse the sport as “working” with it, so I’m just not sure what route to go. I know the RC level will level it for sure, but what happens if I go 5100s on X height and they need to be upped or downed to Y? Do you have to essentially reinstall I presume?
