Cheers to wives that allow us to be us. For if I never found one that accepted me, I'd still be sleeping in a tree.

I can't say mine is 'FREE' like Canada since I earn it, but I don't pay out of pocket for any of my health, dental, vision, or hearing insurance premiums.
Spouses and kids (up to 26) are included.:D

The insurance is the only reason I haven't already retired..

Nothing free about the care here. Healthcare is "free" in the sense that if I go to the doc or the hospital I generally don't see a bill, but it's paid for in ludicrous amounts of taxes. Extended healthcare (most physio, massage etc), dental, vision and hearing are either out of pocket or a combination of out of pocket and employer paid benefits.

    for theatre of the mind...

    We pay monthly:
    ~$500 for a single employee
    ~1200 for a family
    Memorial Hermann system in Houston

we only ask 10% contribution from the emp.

    not terrible.

but folks STILL take that for granted. grrrrr

I could go on and on about medical, but I think one of the best moves I ever did was negotiate 100% of the medical insurance costs to be paid by my employer. Medical, likely, is only going to go up in price in the future.

I was just kidding about the free.
Canada's 'free healthcare' is how it is described by your fellow left-leaning Canadian twitter/X idiots.
You know, the ones probably paying very little of these taxes.
Not to get political, but I have no other way to explain my use of the word 'free'...

I was kicked off my parent's health insurance at 18 in 1980.
I didn't have health insurance again until I got my current job in 1986.

I remember when my daughter turned 26 and the insurance company sent us a letter saying she could keep the insurance if she wanted to pay COBRA premiums.
Those premiums were $500 a week, not a month, but per week.:eek2:

It's going to be a major consideration for my wife in just a few years. A bit disappointing, since I'd rather she was already retired; but the warranty on both of us has expired so shit's starting to break, and it's expensive to fix.

I've been off since January, and won't go back until July.
I sure have enjoyed not going to work even with the surgeries.
Disablity pay is a 1/5 of what I usually make, but it is better than nothing.
Thankfully the only debt I have is the mortgage.

I've probably got three more years to go as well before I retire.
Hell, after I get my shoulders and knees replaced, I might go longer.
I don't really work that hard at work..
If I could get a run that starts in mid-morning and only work 9 hours a day, I wouldn't mind going to work..:D

I know I said it before, but my wife’s employee pays for our medical. 100% of it (exception of ur standard $10 co-pay, $5 script, $50 surgery, and I think $90 ER visit or something)
