Would a 3rd part alarm be better than oem alarm on a 23 tundra??? i have an evo one remote start installed and wondering would the alarm on it be better?? the evo one has a shock sensor add on for $40, but Amazon has a shock sensor called protect x that taps into factory alarm. i have an ascl7 on the way that i will be tapping the trigger wire on it into either the horn(oem) Alarm or alarm siren/horn out(fortin) so it alerts my phone.

reason i need to know is the guy across the street from had his car stolen literaly 5 min after me and my left for our part time night job and didn't hear the alarm go off and no way to track it. my car has either a dealer or Toyota finance services tracker on it that i have no clue if its doing anything so my ascl7 will be stuffed up high in the dash and powered off my amp line not the remote start incase they remove that half way down the road.

am i over thinking this probabl yes, but rather be overkill than not enough and loose my car

No idea on your question but unplug and throw away that tracking device the dealer placed in your truck ASAP.

Uh no. Did you consent to be tracked and monitored by God knows who 24/7? It's just a bullshit dealer addon you probably paid several hundred dollars for so they could make more money off of you. My last truck had one on it. I found it immediately while checking out the truck. I confronted the salesman and he said every new vehicle gets it as soon as it hits the lot. I ripped it out in the parking lot, handed it back to him, and made sure it was not being charged for in my buyers order.

Who is your finance company? Do you have shitty credit?

Yep, rip it and toss it. TFS doesn't use that garbage, your dealer (or someone) is tracking you.

I’ve been looking for a reasonable and easy to connect shock sensor for the 3rd gen and so far not found anything viable. First I’ve heard of the Protect-X but it doesn’t appear to trip the OEM alarm when triggered. It just flashes the lights and beeps the horn a few times. Anyone have actual experience with this device? There are a few “Suposed” reviews from Gen3 owners on the site.

i have an evo one remote start installed that takes shock sensors but i also want tilt. fortin uses a 3 pin connector only makes a shock sensor. how ever it looks like i can take any 4 pin shock/tilt sensor and adapt it if i realy needed to. fortin just took the warn and tripped wires and put a jumper on on them so im assuming i could do that to another brand. im just not sure if its sending a signal or just sending voltage down the 3rd pin

This one by Viper detects glass breakage and appears to be easily added to aftermarket systems. Many of these have either a 12v trigger lead or a normally open grounding lead. Sometimes both. This is good (glass break) but some detect metal to metal contact. Like from an impact gun (lugs) or a saw blade. I have my wheels and cats protected so probably only need the glass break sensing.
