quick question, how concerned should i be about mildew on the canvas of the pop up? I know tents will flat out grow mold if they are left wet, is that a concern on a soft side camper as well?

 

Do your best to wipe it down before folding it up while travelling and in use. Then once your trip is over or when you reach sunny/dry weather, let it air out and completely dry out before closing it up and putting it in storage, etc...

Always a good mental reset for us, no power/water/cell service.
We stayed 4 nights and haul everything including the dog with two snow machines.

Tested out iphone satalite text for our nightly check in and it worked amazing but will still keep an inreach handy.

 

We really enjoy camping here, esp when you get the beachfront spot! Too bad the water is always too dirty to go in.

Just curious, when you're using the privacy tent, do you dig a small depression in the ground so there's no run off towards the truck? I have one of the stand alone privacy tents. The few times I've used it was when my daughters camped with me, and I was fortunate to have grass to set it on. I've since taken a couple of the Harbor Freight foam floor mats (2' x 2'??), and I used a 1.5" hole saw and drilled a dozen holes into it to use as the "floor" for showering. Keeps feet clean, and allows for drainage. I still wear flip flops or crocs when I shower at camp but was wondering about shower tents on dirt.

 

For this desert location yeah I made a small hole but normally water just soaks in. The rubber mats are a good idea. I use a fake grass mat I got from Walmart that the water flows right through and is easy on my feet even if sand or gravel gets tracked up onto it

 

I know it’s another thing to bring but comfort matters sometimes. For a portable shower these teak shower mats are nice.

Yeah those are nice, the ones I had broke under weight on uneven ground. But can’t really go wrong with any of these options. I find taking a shower after about 3 days off roading is perfect and resets me for another 3 days. I have a cheap Cosco propane water heater but it does the job

 

The front of my third gen is all plastic and while in Canada off roading I slid off a gravel road going 10 miles an hour and hit a small bush. Laying on my back, punching the back of the left bumper to pop it out, I shouted to the heavens NEVER AGAIN!

Our typical setup in northern MN.
A couple trips a year we need two vehicles so the wife can tow the boat with her Highlander.

 

I added my privacy tent back onto this truck and thought through a couple of mounting options as I wanted the enclosure to hang away from the truck and more rearward so that it clears my roof top tent ladder. I decided to use a $30 Amazon TV mount which works great. When it stores the front end hooks onto the rack and a set screw secures the rear and keeps it from any movement while stored. If the wind kicks up I use screw in stakes

 

Well boys, you may not need it but you might want it.

Hi everyone,

Love all of the cool pics of everyone's rigs. I just picked up a slightly used Napier Sportz truck tent for my 2022 Tundra. Nothing fancy but getting back into camping after a long hiatus. I'm planning a few trips after my engine replacement is completed later this month.

 

My wife and I did a quick overnight. Sometimes I feel like white and sometimes amber.

 

So you run your intake and output to your heater in the tent...?

 

Yeah the Propex heater is below and it cycles the air really nicely through the tent and is more efficient with the intake air coming from the tent
