Yes they are. Switched the front fogs, ditch lights, and chase lights to factory amber to match the disco ball. They might be easier on your retinas too.

I thought about giving the factory amber a shot, guess I'll have to see yours to decide.

They are weird. Depending on the conditions - some times the light output seems non existent while in other conditions they overpower the headlights.

That is what I was afraid of, that wavelength of light doesn't seem like it would be the most conducive...what say our favorite lumen pusher @memario1214 ?

The raw output difference between a white lens pod and a factory amber is going to be somewhere between 20-25% loss so we're already starting a touch off of center. Difference between selective yellow and factory amber would be approx 5-10%. The more orange wavelength of light is technically further away from the center of our visible spectrum which makes it also more difficult to perceive.

I am struggling to talk myself thru exactly what conditions I would suspect them to seem overly bright vs almost non-existent. While a white light is more apt to reflect off of airborne particulate, I would suspect that the conditions where Adam's setup in particular seems bright as shit is when it's dusty. The lower lights will punch through the fog whereas the headlights get stuck in the nearfield, and the A-pillar lights are going to reflect a bunch even though they are a better wavelength for cutting through the shit.

Your train of thought matches mine, I simply don't have the hands on to solidify my hypothesis. I still think BD's selective yellow still reigns as the optimal compromise between white and what is widely accepted as amber. Though given the selection of aux lighting on my truck, some might say I'm a bit biased

I still think that I want factory amber for chase lights - less harsh on the followers eyes.
