Now that several of you have had these overlays for a while, what is your opinion of them?

Have they held up well to rock chipping?

Have they remained glued in place well?

Has the color match and overall finish held up to road grime and multiple washes?

Were they worth money, or would you have gone the more expensive painting route in hindsight?

    Thanks

Love them. Had them on since they first came out. No one can tell.

I agree with Rb123, I’ve had them for almost a year. I originally had the mustache painted and was disappointed when after only a couple months there were numerous chips in the paint. I don’t have any chips in the shellz. Color match is excellent. I have the ice cap color.

Thanks for the replies so far.

    One more question.

Do these overlays collect dust under them, like the tailgate spoiler thing does? I hate that thing because it drips dirty water for at least an hour after I run the truck thru the car wash. That should have been formed into the sheet metal, like Ford does, not a separate plastic piece.

It def has the potential to collect dust under it since the 3m tape doesnt go around the overlays 100%. I havent noticed anything, but I dont drive in dusty conditions. I have the mustache, front bumper caps, fog light bezel and rear spoiler overlays.

I went out and took pictures. I’ve never noticed dust under them. They lay really flush and have the 3M tape around the edges to keep dust from getting under it. I washed my car about 5 days ago. Hope this helps. Some of the gaps are probably because I installed them by myself.

One could buy a roll of thin 3M tape and bolster the taping around the edges

Thanks, that's what I suspected. I spend a lot of time on dusty roads, so I'll probably pass, even though I like how they change the look, especially the grille.

Thanks for the pics. The gaps appear to have the potential to collect dust. I'll probably just live with my factory chrome.

One of the first purchasers when they came out. Look and work great. No concerns. I’d do it again with no regrets.

Has anyone tried to take off the whole grille surround after the shellz have been installed? Considering adding a pro grille down road.

that’s the gap between the hood and the mustache. There is foam in the gap(came with the truck). Not as big of a gap as it looks

    Thanks for the responses, guys.

Eddie gave me the answer I needed. Apparently, the adhesive tape doesn't seal the edges completely from dust or moisture. While I'm sure a guy could tediously add adhesive tape to seal them up, that solution isn't very appealing to me.

I love how these overlays transform the look of the grille area, but I'm skeptical of them for my use case.
