Big mods are coming soon, but not too soon.
Does anyone here 3D scan and 3D print?

I am interested in building a sunroof bracket for a 1st gen Sequoia that will house a fantastic fan for car camping. I see how accurate and efficient 3D scanning is and I think it could be 3D built.

You wouldn't necessarily need a 3D scanner for something like this. But I don't know of a 3D printer that can print that large. IF there is one out there that is capable of that size of a print it would not be cost effective at all. Likely $1000's of dollars.

Many large “home” 3d prints are comprised of smaller pieces glued together - that could be an option. It would take some planning and work though.

I have both. For something like that I'd just draw it up and cut it out manually on some metal and have it clamp onto the sunroof housing. Unless you're very experienced with CAD it will be a process to work with the scan, and the geometry you need isnt that complicated. You could certainly 3D print it, but again that needs some CAD expertise and at the end of the day won't be that much different than fabricating something and probably take longer.

Maybe a good question is what skills do you have and tools do you have access to already :D
