I used to be pretty active with the derelicts over on the Taco forum.

I sold the Taco (2016) about 2 years back. I'm looking to get back into a truck and might upsize to a Tundra this time. Same mileage and bigger truck. I'm planning to haul around a camper (probably a Kimbo) and instead of spending a few G's to make it handle the weight - why not just get a truck that can do it already?

My only concern is whether or not I want to deal with the size for city driving....

I have been looking at threads regarding the 3" factory lift - would love to hear comments from folks who went that route as I'm already talking to the dealer about it.

    Cheers,

If you’re looking at late Gen 2s, this shouldn’t be nearly as much of an issue because despite the bloated appearance they drive super small and still reign with best-in-class turn radius.

I use mine for everything…hunting, camping, driving to work, etc. As far as fullsize trucks go, it’s easy getting in and out of the city

I'll get a brand new Gen 3. I don't see any sense in buying a used truck for the same price as a new one. I sold my Taco for not so much less than I paid for it - after driving it for 6 years. But, yeah it would be a do everything for me too.

Therein lies the rub—the Gen 2s hold value like a Tacoma. The Gen 3s do not. Why that is and whether it’s fair or not is in lots of other threads. Just something to be aware of.

    And welcome to the forum.

I think they hold similar value between 2nd gens and 3rd gens. The big difference is starting price. The third gen does not retain its MSRP to used price as well as 2nd gen. A 2021 and a 2023 seem to sell for similar prices at similar trim and mileage levels. A 2023 had a $10-15k premium at buy in though.

Exactly. You won’t drive it for 5-6 years and get as much of your purchase price back as a gen 2 or a Tacoma

I found the truck I want - at what I think is a really good price. USD would be 44K. I'm waiting for a price on the factory 3" lift.
