Thanks Shifty. Unfortunately not yet. I had to do rear brake cylinders, pads, bearings, seals, I had to replace my rack and pinion cause it was cracked, Valve cover gaskets, plugs, transfer.case acuator etc.and just can't afford it yet. I been looking through junk yards and pick a parts for a differential set. Thanks Man...

The detail looks great! Is that squat just the driveway or pic angle?

    Hey Shifty,
I appreciate all your help over the time. I finally found solid 4.30 front differential a ways back and got my truck sorted to a proper 4x4. You been such a wealth of knowledge/information for me and a friend and I was curious if you knew if its possible to get my cruise control working again. I've heard with 35 inch tires it doesnt work anymore. My light comes on but it doesnt engage. I have a 2003 tranny swap if that means anything. Sorry to be such a green horn. I hope all is well with you and i hope you still have your 1st gen. Thanks Brother man.

I've never heard that about cruise and 35" tires. I know with 33s, my cruise was pretty worthless on hills, damn thing would kick down a gear at the slightest incline.

That said, sounds almost electrical in nature, like something missing. That's where I find @BubbaW really shines bright.

Don't see a year, cab type or trim in your profile so I'll ask what is the yr, cab, trim we are dealing with. The electrical circuits vary somewhat year to year, cab type and even 2wd or 4wd.

Even tho light comes on, there still could be a blown fuse, a faulty brake switch, or an issue with the cruise control actuator or sensors.

He's running a 2001 Tundra AC, 4.7L/4WD SR5. More pics and such, if it helps, over here.

He's been working to de-mallcrawler-ify the thing, that was the previous owner's doing. Truck was otherwise in pretty amazing shape from what I've seen.

Wow....hell of a body lift and not even sure where to start, given all the gear changes mentioned, not sure if it does or does not now have 4WD now, cruise light was not working then but working now....etc

    @BooRoc in case it matters....
    • What gears fnt/bck are we running today
    • Do you still have 4WD
    • Do you have speed sensors(VSS) hooked up

    Hey Bubba,
Thank you for your help BubbaW. I have 4.30gears front and rear, 4wd working great in hi and low. 2003 Tranny. 2005 Tundra front slotted rotors. No sensors or abs. Truck rides/runs amazing. Alot of work to get it there. Most all my dash lights were out. I just changed them all out a couple months ago. something off topic here. My battery light and airbag light has a slight draw of current. Very faint. All my dash lights work now but for some reason i have a little current in the battery and airbag. those 2 have a very light glow. I am grateful for your time. Much Obligued.

I put a set of Michelin defender ltx ms2 on her for very long road trips and miss cruise control. Not a necessity but was curious about it.

The truck was born white. It was repainted in 2017 to black. Doesn't fit in the garage so I wax and seal the shit out of it. I had a detail business back in the day and really enjoy high speed polishing and detailing in general.

As in your 2001 never had ABS ?
Also, the sensors you mention, are you speaking of what Toyota calls "ABS Speed Sensor" at each wheel?
Both the 01 and 03 A340F have 2 Vehicle Speed Sensors located on the transmission, # 1 and # 2 VSS's. The # 2 VSS feeds the ECU which then determines vehicle speed....# 1 VSS feeds Combination Meter for speedometer and then on to ECU for a # 2 VSS backup signal.

All that to ask, does speedometer work and are both #1/# 2 VSS connectors plugged in good on the transmission ?

Do you have a scan tool capable of reading live data in particular vehicle speed ?

The below is from FSM noting at least 2 things needing to be good for Cruise....vehicle speed signal and a properly functioning brake switch.

    2001 Cruise.jpg

Hmmm, will give thought to that.

Wow. Thanks Bubba. This is incredible intell. Truck has no abs from factory. I will have to do some investigating on #1 and #2 VSS. Speedo works. A little off by about 5 mph. I do have a blue tooth code reader i wiill install. I really appreciate you taking the time out for me. This is awesome. I'm very grateful.

Leds in certain dash lights will cause the issues you mention. I believe air bag and battery light are two of them. There's some posts about it.
