I've been wanting to undercoat my truck for a while. I live here in NJ and I'm on the beach fishing during the summer. I do hose down and wash my truck every time I come off the beach to hopefully reduce the salt damage. I just got an estimate from Northeast Mobile Undercoating for $350 to undercoat my truck. They come to my house to do it. They say their undercoating is an oil based product. Is this a good price? And, has anyone heard of them and used their service?

If it is like fluidfilm, woolwax or similar go for it. Those types of products do work.

If it is some rubberized undercoating....that would be a BIG NO. Those products trap moisture and will rot the frame from the inside.

I ldon't think it is. They have a video on their FB page that shows the damage solid undercoating does.

I'll completely agree with Frichco. Wool wax or fluid film are a big help, wool wax lasts longer than fluid film. Fluidfilm is easy to reapply touch ups yourself but id let a pro do it the first time and recoat every few years. rubberized coatings will eventually dry out, crack and hold dirt and moisture. I went the fluid film route and had a local guy do it for around 250 but I think most shops around me are closer to 3. Recoats are around $100.

I'm not having any luck finding anyone local. I think the company I mentioned is in PA where I live in NJ. I guess they're close enough to make the trip for $350.

Wow. Seems like a steal at that price. If you do go with it, would love to know how it turns out. Fellow rust belt dweller up here in NH.

There's a guy by AC who does wool wax. Will be going to him later in spring. He's a teacher and does this on the side. He's listed under applicators on the woolwax website. Chatted w him via text. Watched some of his you tubes. Looks to do a decent job. Around same price.

I live in NW Penna.. The road salt capital of North America. Sounds like this stuff might be similar to New Hampshire Oil Black. 2007 Tundra CM, 280.00 here which includes an undercarriage spray down with some NHO product. Your price seems pretty decent. My truck doesn't have any rust on it anywhere. Highly recommend.

NHOU is pretty similar. The pros will fill doors, tailgate, spray battery terminals, pull the plugs on the frame rails and coat the inside as best they can among other things.
