Bilstein have been super slow to release 3rd Gen Tundra parts. The 5100's only really came into stock these last couple of months, but the truck has been out for 3 years pretty much.

My TRD claims to have Bilstein from the factory. Does anyone know how they compare to the 5100 or 6112 options direct from Bilstein? I'm finding very little information on probably because I don't know what to search for.

I think I remember seeing someone post that the trd offroad shocks are variants of the 4600s. 4600s - 46mm body diameter. 5100s - also 46mm body diameter but has ability for increased lift on front coilovers. 6112s - 60mm body diameter also with adjustability on front. 5100/6112 rears both have the ability to support up to 1” lift per bilstein.

Of course! I have a couple of friends with 2.5 gens that love their 6112/5120 setup (I forget the exact 5XXX number for the rears). After switching from a spacer lift to a proper suspension lift recently, the ride is so much better since the shock isn’t the limiting factor with uptravel.

I’m confused, wasn’t there already 6112 for tundra?

Not for the 3rd gens, only for the older gens. The 4600 and 5100 are the same shocks. It's just 5100 comes with the ability to lift and has a fancier finish than the ugly blue/yellow of the 4600.

Thanks for sharing this, curious to see how these perform against the other options out there.

Bilstein can be slower than others to the market typically due to their OEM contracts that can limit aftermarket production for a specified period of time.

The OEM Bilstein equipped Tundras are not the same as what you will get with the new aftermarket 5100 and 6112 versions, even the Bilstein 4600 Series aftermarket stock height replacement is more robust than the factory equipped units.

    Front 4600 Part #24-329156
    Rear 4600 Part #24-329163
    (Non TRD, Non Airbag Rear)

The 5100 Series have been out for about 6 months and not only provide more ride height, but the are also tuned for larger wheel & tire combinations, ride height, and roll center & spring preload. 5100's feature a 46mm piston.

    Front 5100 Part #24-329200
    Rear 5100 Part #24-329217
    (Non TRD, Non Airbag Rear)

The 6112 series is now available and in stock, ready to ship! As in the past, they are the 60mm piston version and come with new performance coil springs. These are also tuned for larger wheel & tire combinations, ride height, and roll center & spring preload. These are tuned more aggressively than the 5100 series, but as many have found in the past that they are not harsh like the 2nd gen kits.

Interestingly, for the rear, instead of a 5160 Remote Reservoir, Bilstein chose to make a 6100 Series (60mm large body) non reservoir shock to match the 6112 front.

    Front 6112 Part #47-329323
    Rear 6100 Part #24-329428
    (Non TRD, Non Airbag)

As in the past, I think the 5100 series and the 6112 kits will work on TRD models, but you wont get the advertised ride height from Bilstien. Time will tell as we start getting kits installed.

Let me know if any of you are interested in more info on these.

    Thanks, Bob
