OEM did it. Switched to rainX thinking blades suck, same issue with new rainX and with Bosch. All new blades and all leave the same streak. Could the arms or that stupid clip adaptor thing be the issue?

Not just a you problem. I'm an old codger, but lights are too bright now. Plus, LEDs don't have much in the way of infrared, which may not be perceptible to us, but lumen for lumen cause them to seem brighter than an equivalent incandescent.

I wish @memario1214 had an option for Hottails that were closer to factory lumens; or included the harness only and we could BYOB(ulbs).

If the place where it attaches to the arm has decent articulation, it's likely not that. If not, it could very well be. Less likely but still possible, it might be the windshield. Others have noted that Safelite and other low-dollar glass services companies use substandard glass; so while it might fit the truck, it might not curve exactly the same as factory.

Thanks guys! That makes sense, the red light should be much easier on the eyes. Also, phones can't really do good LED and lighting photos, so some of the brightness might not translate to real life. Appreciate the real life information!!

Honestly, it's less than I see the OEMs being mentioned here, but I was just asking to find out why others were okay with the higher prices. Maybe I'll try some OEMs for my next set. 69K on my Tundra, and I'm definitely on my third, maybe 4th, with only the first being Toyota. I'm in Texas, so no snow/salt/gravel, and the truck is in the garage when I'm not driving it.

CFR calls out tail/brake luminance minimums, but there is no verbiage around maximums for that position.

Funny that you say that... I have actually been working on a "mid-level" HotTails kit that would have output values closer to that of OEM. Just selling a harness is not possible for a BYOB setup. 921 bulbs are not dual-filament by default, and as a result HotTails can not be achieved by only modifying a harness on an existing setup. The only current dual-filament offering is the VLEDS one that we use in our kits. At this point, it is the only reason I use VLEDS bulbs, but that's a story for another day :anonymous:.

Haha I just have mine ripped out. I don't even have what's replacing it installed yet. I'd best not go giving it away yet...
Compared to a 19 though it's light years better IMO.

It's fine if you're not into audio. I had alot of volume issues with mine. My system now is soooooo much better lol.

I'm not surprised since they are made by Panasonic. The 4Runner units are made by Pioneer at least.

I got Taylors Sub and DSP upgrade for my 21. For me that is all I need. The JBL works fine with that...

Did your 16 Limited have the non-JBL system?
Mine has the JBL and the site basically says don’t do it. Or it’s just stupid expensive to make work since you need the head unit, amplifier and special harnesses.

Same here and I was going to question why specifically 20-21 HU's? Compared to aftermarket options, or compared to older Tundra HU options. Am I missing something there @Tundra234

Most people that put the 20-21 head units in is because they want the Carplay or AA but still want to keep a factory look. For those of us that are into audio systems, the factory unit lacks alot of tuning capabilities and has sporadic volume issues.

Ah, ok that's a fair take for sure. I'm already in a '21, did the James sub/box/amp and mostly happy with my results and do prefer the factory look. So it sounds like I may not be a candidate here unless I want to go aftermarket.

If you are needing to find a new home for your JBL amp, I might find need of it...I'm no audiophile but I want it to work as intended, with an updated platform...

Piggy backing off that, I may be interested in the HU if it's a direct swap into a '14 JBL with just a harness conversion.

It's a bit more involved into the JBL system...I too, want the JBL to work...but one needs to also swap the JBL amp to work with the 20-21 HU with Entune 3.0...
