So my 1st gen tundra will not shift into park. Have checked the Colum and all but the cable bushing appears in tact. Disconnected the cable and even manually can not get full engagement to start(starts fine in neutral).
Disconnected cable at tranny and it glides well but even then shift lever at tranny will not fully engage in park
If I hold pressure on tranny shift arm and that’s heavy pressure, the park light will light but no start and as soon as I let pressure off just slightly the light goes out.
Is there anything else besides the nss that I shoul consider?

    Need some clarification:

The tranny will shift into park manually shifting it on the transmission, but it won't shift into park at the lever? Is that correct?

And you made sure the top ear of the lever assembly isn't cracked or shearing off, the common fail point?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. There’s a recent thread about an issue just like yours. Have you searched the site already? I believe that persons solution was a bracket underneath the truck on the transmission that had come loose, or was missing a bolt. He remedied that and the cable would then properly cycle the gear positions.

There were a couple, one with a bracket on the trans that has a elongated slot having one of two bolts missing, I think?

And then this one, where there was a bracket in the column, I think: https://www.tundras.com/threads/column-shifter-becoming-sloppy.148675/page-3#post-3831548

And then there was this one, where @The Black Mamba gives the FSM page to fix: https://www.tundras.com/threads/dif...double-cab-automatic-4x4.108538/#post-3828929

I'm not looking any further, the guy who started the thread can use search. But there was one more thread dealing with a bracket on the transmission too.

Just the opposite. Lever on colum works fine and cable slides smoothly. It’s at the tranny that it won’t shift manually with cable off

Cable is good it’s the tranny that is not moving all the way.

    Thanks for the links.
I did search but everything I found revolves around the shifter and got tired of reading. Will go over the BM thread next chance I have daylight left.
Funny thing is that I have never owned or worked on anything with an auto transmission before so at an extreme disadvantage.

I have been going through searches but everything I see is dealing with the shifter, bushing or cable.
I am underneath the truck with cable disconnected and I can shift into any position EXCEPT park with the lever. It goes past reverse but will not lock in or turn on the light. It will crank just fine in neutral.
I have followed TBM’s link on nss adjustment with no change.
For some reason I can not get the fsm link to open properly on my phone.

I’d be tempted to pull the pan and see if anything is mechanically blocking the lever inside the trans.

Could it be the PN switch? Is there anything inside of it that could have come apart and be blocking the park position?
Which would be easier, Pulling the pan or the switch and which would be more likely?

Very possibly, I would remove the park/neutral position switch and then attempt to move shift lever.

Was going to attempt that but read in one the many threads that there was a high risk in moving the the lever without the nss installed.

So, I have been spraying the PNSS with PB blaster for a few days and today needed to move the truck. I had loosened the adjusting bolt from the PNSS and rocking the switch when I sprayed.
I put everything except trim back together and set the switch back to original setting and it decided to start working normal with the exception of the indicator lights for park and drive.
Do need to replace the top cable bushing so will order that and next chance I get will hit the PNSS connector with some deoxit then see how it does.
Anyone familiar with a suitable penetrating lube that I could use on the back side of the PNSS or is it made in a way that there would be no issues with possibly getting into the electrical inside?

Why not use electrical Contact Cleaner on the internals? CRC makes a great all-purpose contact cleaner and it's sold at most LAPS.
