Think those beasts only live in the south west and the Sonoran dessert in Mex. But they could be propagating....

Not a chupacabra. They rarely bother inanimate objects, they are so mean that if they wanted to say sharpen their claws, they will pick something alive like a cow, not a tree, just for the fun of it. Also, they don't like to mark their territory, thus revealing their presence. While their sheer size and power make them almost invincible, they are not above using surprise to make a quick kill.

It was a wood pecker, and then an animal went over to see if there was anything good to eat left over :notsure::anonymous:

As promised, left side is soft water out to the house line, right side is cold water inlet, black rubber hose is a drain.

How would you feel about these levels. I think I'm right on the line of needing to take action. I've only had this detector running 4-5 days.

If that's in your basement, and you don't live down there, it's only about half that upstairs. Under 2-2.5 is the EU spec and 4.5 or 4 is the USA one. So with USA scale, you are fine either way. From what I have read it can spike here and there too. I'd just watch it for a while. If you want a vent, sure why not, it certainly won't hurt. But if you aren't looking to spend money, I'd just wait and keep and eye on it.

Yep. This is our basement. We hang out downstairs most evenings but live upstairs. I'll keep an eye on it for a while.

    That’s my thought
Just did a long hike today and walked past several trees just like that. Once the bugs have started to loosen things up in a dead tree, woodpeckers can annihilate it pretty fast and leave a hell of a mess on the ground under it.

Finished laying 110' or so of 3/4"L with isolation valves at every rise,1/2" walled insulation,007 SS circulation pump and a adjustable aqua stat.
It's one of those thankless jobs, nothing cool to look at,but it's really nice when you turn on any faucet and the water comes out hot within 3~4 seconds.

Can't wait for late spring to demo the old boiler and install a tankless with storage tank.
No that's going to be a nice project.

Are you on a well that has a pressure tank? Or just adding a storage tank for your tankless to pull from?

Thank you so much for all your input, you have likely saved me thousands of dollars!! I will proceed with getting one myself at Lowes or HD, and then hire a plumber to just do the hook up, as it looks similar!

    It'll be to draw from.

Edit * this will be an indirect storage tank and have not yet determined what size I will get.

A few weeks back I was working in the yard near where I usually do my burn piles. It was windy that day and on the big gusts I could here some popping and cracking noises from one of the nearby trees. I immediately and carefully walked around to try and identify which one it was. I found the one and on Saturday I removed it. I haven't dropped anything this big in a long, long time. But the tree fell exactly where I wanted it to. It was a little sketchy because the center is rotted on it. One of the larger limbs was actually full of about 10 gallons of water. Pretty surprising when you cut into it and water starts going everywhere. Then I spent the rest of the day trying to get everything cut up and cleaned up.

I bought an aqua sure brand from Amazon 3 months ago for $500. Resin and brine tanks. Seems to be working fine. Came with a cartridge filter also.

I did same, several years ago in VA. Put sediment filter and charcoal filter inline before softener. I change the filters at 6mo intervals. City, safe, potable water. Filters are brown and nasty after 6mos. My water out of faucets is good, RO system under sink for fridge and sink spigot are great.

With levels like that you may just be able to put an air exchanger in the basement. You'd only need an open outlet and to add an intake and exhaust run. Might run you about $500 for everything if you're good with cutting holes in the house.

I guess I'm lucky! We moved here about 2 years ago...and literally all I have is an inline sediment filter. In fact, when we first moved here, the sediment filter hadn't been replaced in the house in 3 years...and it *STILL* tested almost perfect, other than having some sediment show up.

I sanded our kitchen cabinet doors using a ryobi sander for the flat surfaces, sand paper in corners and uneven surfaces. Then painted, it was time consuming and tedious but css as mo out ok. About 6 mo later a tree took out our kitchen. We spent a little more than insurance would cover and got new cabinets.
You can just get new doors and hinges, and paint the outer cabinets to match new doors.
Didn’t you just get a new house?

I sanded my cabinets with a dewalt orbital sander and hand sanded the corners. The prep wasn't the hard part. But the tldr story is, I'll never paint cabinets again. It's a mutha of a time suck.

Finally got around to fixing this weather stripping. Had I known how easy it was I would've done it a long time ago.
