Hey gang. I've got a Glock 43 (non-x) that I would like to find a holster for. I was surprised when the shop I bought it from didn't have any for em and neither does Glock's website.

I don't know what brands are any good and I'm not looking to break the bank. I'd like something concealable, but I don't know what style or placement would suit me best, as I'm a husky 6' 270lbs. Obviously comfort is a high priority.
    Also I'm left handed.

    Thanks for any pointers, fellas.

    Here ya go...

    https://www.tacticalholsters.com/product/phenom-speed/

They also make them w/magazine 'sidecars' for an extra mag which would have 2 smaller belt clips and a wide 'footprint'.... but based on where you'd probably be carrying it (position wise), I'd stick w/a stand alone holster.

I have the first one I sent the link on w/no mag carrier, and that wide clip paired w/the 43 (i have a 43x) is a great combo as it keeps the weapon secure (even clipped to a pair of basketball shorts). When clipped to an actual belt the platform is rock solid
You'll probably want the pistol sitting at your left kidney for comfort and ease of draw :quickdraw:

As a big guy you will most likely hate any belt style holster. If I was you I would buy a cheap iwb style if you think that might be what you want and try it out before spending the big bucks on a really nice one

No it's different the moclaw locks the holster closer to your body, not necessary w/that pistol

Yeah if I open carry, I'll definitely use a holster with a latch like officers use, or like my taser holster, at work. I might look for something similar to this for my 1911.20250303_055341.jpg

Most 43x holsters should fit the 43.

^^ this. Also, the belt is almost as critical as the holster it needs to be rigid enough to support the firearm, but breaks in enough to be comfortable. I personally carry the Tier 1 Concealed - axis elite and Kore essentials belt. I've considered trying the Safariland incog holster as well (this one I believe is designed to carry appendix and strong side). Tier 1 Concealed (promo code social10), Trex Arms, QVO tactical, Safariland, ANR Designs, TXC holsters, are all pretty damn good holsters. I'd wait for the next holiday cause most of them will run sales. If you're just looking for an outside waistband strong side holster I swear cabalas has a ton of those. Also, you might go through a few holsters till you figure out what you like. You got my # holler if you got more questions lol.

If my clothes/pockets allow I like to carry my G43 as well as other guns that size in a desantis nemesis pocket holster. I’m also a thinner guy so I find it easier for that to look less conspicuous than some other options. Also on the G43 note I highly recommend the MagGuts mag modified mag that makes it an 8+1 without adding barely any length to the mag. Picture of that mag in the gun attached.upload_2025-3-3_8-49-6.jpg

I believe it’s the “Lighttuck” (iwb)and the “Prodraw” (owb) that I own. Got them about 5-6 years ago when I bought the 365 so my memory is a little fuzzy. I carry the Lighttuck just about every day though. Just have to tighten the screw on the belt clip a little bit every 4-5 months. God forbid a put a drop of loctite on it.

The beauty of the MagGuts mag is it extends the capacity by 2 rounds while adding less height than 1 round as far as maintaining concealment. It’s like a magic trick. 8 round MagGuts next to the standard 6 round Glock mag.

OP is 6 feet tall and 270 yet arming himself with a single stack Euro Pellet (9x19) handgun? :monocle:

Just giving you a hard time man. I started out carrying something insanely small (NAA Mini in .22 Mag) but later went to full-sized weapons. Packed a 1911 in .45 ACP last night.

Glock is the most popular handgun and everyone makes holsters for them. Leather, Kydex, nylon, you name it.

I carry different weapons in these holsters.

    Andrews' Leather Monarch shoulder holster
Mitch Rosen Express Line thumb break
    High Noon Holsters OWB kydex
    Desantis Nemesis nylon pocket holster
Trying out a US-marked "Tanker" holster for any large handgun. Find it on Amazon, $40.00. Might open carry in it this summer when mowing. Might.
We The People Holsters IWB (also trying out)
Andrews' Leather McDaniel II crossdraw with thumb break on order

I urge you to carry a reload. I like Alien Gear Holsters mag carriers.
Carry pepper spray. I prefer Sabre Red Mark 6 container clipped to pocket.

Read Massad Ayoob's book Deadly Force: Understanding Your Right to Self Defense if you want to keep out of prison.

    Good luck!

I can't imagine I'd be comfortable trying to conceal carry my 1911. I do plan to start looking for a holster for it next, but it won't be concealed for daily carry. It'll be more for shooting at targets or as a side arm when hunting. But for now, I'd like something for my Glock that's concealable for everyday carry, especially because I plan to travel from Texas to Arizona and back, for Tundras to Sedona, in about a month and a half. I know AZ has constitutional carry (like Texas has now), but NM has the castle doctrine (like Texas used to have). I'll be traveling alone for about 3/4 of the trip, so I don't want to take any chances. Last time I brought my 1911, but it stayed in the truck console, in a sold case. If shit goes down in the desert, I'd rather have my gun easier to access to defend myself.

You say that now but that's exactly what I used to think. I think it's a normal progression for concealed carriers. They start out thinking "gotta have something small so no one will see it." Um, not true. Larger weapon is easier to handle and put rounds on target with. Good belt and holster and you forget it's there. Personal fitness matters though: carry is better if one is slim or fit. People notice very little. Half the time people don't notice when I'm open carrying!

Friend of mine is 5'2" and the first gun he ever carried was a Springfield Armory 1911A1 (full size) IWB, strong side.

I carry my 1911 in the shoulder holster, which is where it goes in winter. Pocket carry or belt carry doesn't work well wearing a heavy coat.

Summer I carry a Kahr CW .45 in the thumb break which is a small handgun. .45 ACP yes but the weapon is the same height and length as a J-frame .38 Special.

You'll find something that works for you. Practice your draws! Learn how to do a one-handed reholster. Carry a powerful flashlight on weak side, which is where that pepper spray needs to go also, along with that reload. I like the Streamlight Protac 2LX. $40.00 flashlight and 550 lumens with strobe function.

    ***
What does castle doctrine have to do with carry? I may be missing something here.

I don't have a concealed carry license and NM doesn't have constitutional carry. So because the castle doctrine includes my truck as an extension of my castle, I can keep my gun in my truck, in NM. However if it's concealed ... Well I'm not looking to break the law. But you get the idea.

Bad idea dog. Do not leave guns in your car. Great way to arm a thief and car break-in's are getting way common everywhere.

I get you "gotta do what you gotta do" but can you open carry? Yes you can!

    www.handgunlaw.us

(click on the state of NM), go a bit beyond 1/2 page down. Open carry common there.

I know it's a bit unnerving to open carry, certainly at first (been there, done that) but I don't leave a gun in my car unless going someplace with pat down or metal detector.

Disclaimer: been carrying a gun since 1996, so 29 years experience, and yet one of the most common nightmares I used to have was "getting in trouble carrying a gun someplace I wasn't supposed to."

I once backed out of a high school football game when I saw the metal detector wands getting used at the ticket booth. I went back to the car, dumped the shotgun, AR, both handguns, most of the ammo, frag grenade, and phased plasma rifle in 40 watt range. Just kidding, I only had pepper spray on me at that time. :) Dumped the pepper spray, enjoyed the game. Some of my students were on the football team. Helps your clout when new teachers go to all the games!

Not leaving it in the truck. I meant I can have it in my truck with me, without a license. The castle doctrine also would allow me to take it to my hotel room.
Just didn't want to open carry without a license, if they didn't have constitutional carry.
It looks like you still need a permit to carry there. Which I do not have, because I don't need one in Texas.

Look into it further, certainly. Some states say "open carry" but only if one has a CCW there (which is silly).

It's nearly 7 AM here and I've been up all night......I could be misreading things!

Do you see how silly carry laws are? No criminal is having this discussion! They are not looking up any laws. No carry ban ever stopped a criminal. Those only scare or jam up the guy that would never harm anyone.

Looks like I'll be driving to GA in a couple of weeks. I can carry there but not sure about the wife. I'd rather her be armed too but she'll probably stick to pepper spray and me lug the artillery.

Yeah a quick Google search said you only need a permit to conceal carry in NM. So I edited my post haha.
Plus I'm simply passing thru NM. I'll be staying a night in Amarillo, then a few days/nights around Seonda, AZ and a night in El Paso, before heading back to Houston.
